Guest Fleurdelys7
I'd recommend lots of prayer and Blessed Bartolo Longo and our Lady as special intercessors for this spiritually barren man's case. What if Catholics sent him love notes, lots of love notes on behalf of Jesus. "I love you, Jesus." "You did not know what you did, I forgive you, Jesus" and so on. Imagine thousands of postcards for the rest of his life reminding him that the Jesus he persecutes died for him so that he might have life and have it abundantly. Other famous atheists have converted...let's pray for yet another conversion! Put his name right next to Hitchens on your prayer lists
MissyP89
*sigh* Lord, forgive him. And it takes a lot of pride-swallowing for me to say that. Shame that he has to get the Koran in on it, too now.
Selah
I know, it takes a lot for me to say Lord have mercy as well... Sigh.
Deb
I have been kind of bad. I have been praying that his wife and children all convert to Catholicism but, not him. That would be his torture on this earth. I guess I still have a long way to go to become holy. He is a sad, pathetic little man.
Vincent Vega
My e-mail to the president:
Dear President Robert Bruininks, I am very distraught by the actions of one of your staff members, Paul Myers. As I'm certain you know by now, Myers has not only desecrated the Eucharist, which Catholics consider the body, blood, soul, and divinity of Our Lord, Jesus Christ, but also desecrated one of the most sacred objects of another promient world religion, the Qu'ran. This is no surprise; he has promised to do so for quite some time now. As both a Catholic and someone who respects the sincere beliefs of others, whatever they may be, I detest these actions, and am shocked that not only a human would have such little regard for the feelings and beliefs of his fellow man, but that you and your colleagues would allow this to happen with no reprocussions to Myers. In one fell swoop, he belittled and insulted the very sacred objects of more than a combined two billion men and women around the world. Not only am I a Catholic and one who respects others, but I am also a high school student, with, I might add, a cumulative weighted GPA of 4.2, awards for research on Polygon-Shaped vortices at both the Florida state and International Science and engineering fair, and the president of my National Honor Society chapter, amongst other accolades and achievements. I expect to graduate with an IB diploma, as I'm in the IB programme. I'll be graduating in 2010. Upon learning about this catastrophe, and due to the shocking lack of preventative action from yourself, and your associates and higher-ups alike, I can safely say that I will not have to consider attending the University of Minnesota - Morris, nor any other University of Minnesota campus. It is a sincere shame that you had not taken any sort of action before it got to this point. Best regards, Mitch
(Yes, I used my full name in the original ) I think that should send a pretty strong message.

Mine was a bit emotional. I did mention what a wonderful bit of publicity Meyers is generating for the U of M. Enough to keep away a lot of prospective students. I just hope Catholics, and anyone who has a shred of dignity about them, will keep this in mind upon applying to universities in Minnesota. lilac_angel
I saw this immediately after coming home from Adoration. Included in my prayers was that stuff like this would happen less and the Eucharist be more revered... so it was extra saddening to read I don't know how he possibly could have been more disrespectful. Well, I'm sure it's possible, but I don't want to think about that. And what does it prove? That he doesn't fear God. Big whoop. Lots of people don't fear God. How noble. And the Koran isn't considered God Himself by anyone, so his religious assaults on Islam and Catholicism aren't even on the same scale. Didymus
Feel free to use this email outline: 7/24/2008 Dear President Robert Bruininks, I was recently contacted by the Catholic League that your biology professor, Paul Myers, after much theatrics, has carried out his threat to desecrate a sacred religious object. I would call on your university to distance itself from this calculated act of hatred against more than 1 billion Catholics and 1 billion Muslims worldwide. Simply ignoring Professor Myers personal vendetta against people of faith would make your university appear to condone his actions. I am asking you to fire Professor Myers for the deep personal offense he has committed against Catholics and Muslims and show him that the University of Minnesota Morris does not tolerate discrimination and acts of sacrilege by its faculty. Sincerely, Adam Janke Director of Religious Education St. Mary Catholic Church 157 High Street Williamston, MI 48895
yeah thanks bro... oh wait... this looks familiar:
His goal is to get our attention and get us as angry as possible. My suggestion is to ignore him (pray for him of course) and allow the diocese he resides in to handle it, they are very capable of doing so.
