Ziggamafu
Here's my question: being that the Church is in the business of saving souls, delivering souls from Purgatory, and relying on the prayers of saints in Heaven, why are there "partial" indulgences in the first place? Not everyone gets a plenary who aims for one anyway, so its not like partial indulgences would go away. Why not elevate every partial indulgence to a plenary indulgence (with proper conditions)? Come to think of it, I honestly have no clue about what, exactly, is beyond the Church's power in regards to the conditions for gaining a plenary indulgence...are the conditions something that are merely disciplinary and, as such, may be loosed by the keys? It's not like we couldn't use more delivered souls to aid in the intercessions before the Lord.
