I watched this last night. I think it's a good movie. I was smiling almost the whole time. :) I think it's a great way to show that having LOTS of kids can be fun. :) It's actually a movie that makes me consider having a big family. I dunno, still scared to have kids tho.. but this movie is just so funny! You guys should see it. It's on DVD now. :) BTW, It's GREAT for all ages! I give the movie 5 stars.

I told Dust’s Sister about this movie, encouraged her to rent it, and I also was the one who watched it with her. So my thought when I saw this topic was, “I saw that movie!” :lol_roll:

If you're talking about the remake, I thought it was terrible, at least the Cheaper by a Dozen films are slightly watchable.

Nihil Obstat

I think I saw the original... can hardly remember though.
I seem to remember something about pancakes.

I prefer the original so much more. It covers the joy of being a large family better. Besides, in the remake, the parents get married really fast and then come home to their children and tell them about each other then throughout the movie the kids spend their time trying to break up the marriage.

I've only seen the original. I didn't realise it was based on a true story until now, though.

It's sort of based on Helen Beardsley's novel, "Who Gets the Drumstick." The circumstances from the original movie are pretty much the same, the number and names of the kids is the same, but they kind of mixed the ages up a bit. They didn't meet by accident though. They corresponded with each other as part of the bereavement process from losing spouses about the same time. The kids were also not against the wedding, and were apparently all for it, and well behaved. The only people against the adoption of the kids, where Helen's deceased husband's family. They didn't want the kids to erase the "North" name. They wanted his kids to still carry his name. I can understand how that happened though.
