I honestly can't remember but I wanted it to have something to do with nuns and the play on words seemed to work.

Well, I couldn't think of a distinctly Catholic-like name for this phorum, though I had some gaming aliases which wouldn't have made sense here (and my newest psudonym "Fyrjefe" was made up after I joined), so I went with SMM, cause my mission of coming here was sort of to discuss sacred music with other Catholics, and heck, learn a thing or two else from hard-core type Catholics. The rest was just bonus. ;)

AbsconditaInDeo

Abscondita In Deo means "Hidden in God." It's a name I found when I was reading a biography on Blessed Elizabeth of the Trinity, He Is My Heaven. Blessed Elizabeth gave herself the name Laudem Gloriae, Praise of Glory, and someone here already had that name and so I couldn't use it, but in the biography, one of the nuns also wanted another name so Blessed Elizabeth gave her the name Abscondita In Deo and I really liked it so I decided to use it as a user name :)
yours reminds me of zoboomafo... like the PBS kids show about a lemur :topsy:
 yeah it does!!

When I made mine up, I was a huge Panic at the Disco fan, also inspiration for the "!". 139 comes from Psalm 139. :))

Nothing super creative.

eagle_eye222001

I needed to pick a username to play chess on yahoo so I picked eagle_eye and yahoo said no and offered eagle_eye222001 so I said okay.

I don't like having a bunch of different user names so I tend to keep the same one when I join a site. Some sites get picky though and don't like underscore. So if your on another site, and you see an eagle_eye222001 or something really close.....chances are really good it's me.

rizz_loves_jesus

I was nicknamed "Rizz" by a bunch of my older sister's friends in like 5th grade, and it just kinda stuck. And I love Jesus :)

I am a Quigley alumnus, and we were known as the "Norsemen" (prior to the reuniting of Quigley North and Quigley South in 1990). "82" - I graduated in 1982.

The Bus Station

I answered this question the first day I got here (don't feel like typing it again :topsy:):

One of my favorite songs is "The High Countries" by Caedmon's Call. The opening of the song is "A bus station in the steam from the rain/In this line of pale strangers, should I go or stay?". Then, I picked up the book The Great Divorce by C.S. Lewis and realized that said song was inspired by said book. The bus station is the opening setting for both the song and the book, and in its context, I think it's a symbol for that gray area we find ourselves in sometimes, wanting to abandon ourselves to Christ but held back by the world. That book is now my favorite book, and my username is a tribute to the book/song. It's also just fun because it looks so random.

rose wrought of iron

Wow, all of your answers makes mine sound really lame...

I don't know why I came up with it really, but roses are my favorite flower and I wanted to convey that I'm stronger than that; it's a beautiful rose, but it won't die or wither. It'll stay strong. :idontknow:

Actually, when I think of piccolo, I think of those rolls that I make my turkey sandwiches for lunch with!

But of course in 1998 I used the AOL screen name PseudoDionysios. I only started using the name Apotheoun on AOL in 2001.
I guess you could say we were the "Early Church Fathers" of the Ancient Internet, huh? LOL. What a bunch of Catholic geeks we were! Aptly put -- ancient times!
My username has a little bit of a story behind it... Only a few years ago, I was at the darkest part of my life, with drug addiction, sexual promiscuity, homosexuality, and an abusive relationship of three years; and at the heart of all of it was my struggle to listen to God. I would take anything in my life and use it as a distraction because it was easier for me to deal with the consequences of ignoring God than to deal with the shame that I've ignored His deliberate call.

I can definitively tell you that my life changed in the early morning hours of June 25, 2007... when I could not take the noise and the pain anymore and went for a walk around the arroyo behind my apartment complex.

At 3 AM in the morning, the city was still and the quiet reverberated in me... I walked for ages in that darkness... and in that silence, pain, anxiety, and longing I heard in my heart a Voice that wasn't my own asking me "Is this the life you have to live, or the life you choose to live?"... that night I broke down every part of me and gave it up to Him, even the parts that I held close to me my whole life... and my world has never been the same. :-)

It was a while later before I changed my username online... I had another one that I had used before and the main reason why I changed it was because of the story of Jacob's wrestle with the angel in Genesis in which the angel renamed him Israel.

My name is Jacob as well (and most appropriately named I might add!)... It seemed like a calling for me to make a clean break from my old online name and my bad online habits, and in my new user name be constantly reminded of my desire that all of my actions work to remove the noise of the world around me and focus only on God's voice and direction.

(sorry for being so long-winded)
You have inspired me. I will pray that the Lord will strengthen you, for I can see He has a big plan in your life. Oh and I got my name because I want to be a Saint!!! Let's get it! :club: :sign: :bluesbrother: :shield: :bigpray: :punk: :clapping: :breakdance: :lol_above: :woot: :sword: :mario:
