Brother Adam
Typically middle income families can afford catastrophe insurance if they can't afford anything else. When we were in Steubenville we qualified for the hospitals charitable foundation because we had no insurance when my DW had her miscarriage. They covered 100% of it since we made less than 10k a year together. Even though insurance premiums are insane when they are not employer covered for regular health insurance, I still think this system works far better than Canada's govenment run system. I haven't spoken to a Catholic doctor yet (and I've spoken to a few of them) that has anything but animosity for Obamacare. Very few people get stuck with insane hospital bills anymore because they either have employee insurance, or they have catastrophe insurance, or they make so little that the hospital treats them for free.
