I gave DtA permission earlier tonight to shave my head during the week when it shall be shaved and I go bald as long as she doesn't cut into my scalp, sorry Emily.

Okay, so, back on track... Where are good obscure pilgrimage sites in Italy?

I obviously want to go to Siena, Assisi, etc... but where are the lesser known, must see, locations?

Padova! Padova!

It's my favourite Italian town by a 1.6 kilometer.

Also come visit me. I am cute and guests get fantastic puddings after lunch.

I lived in Rome for a year, so I have way more suggestions than I have time to write for now. If you're interested in more specifics, let me know!

Within an hour's train ride of Rome there is so much to see! Make a point of exploring all of the medieval villages in the area, off the beaten path of tourist attractions, you'll experience so much more of Italian culture this way. Eat at restaurants with tiny signs. My experience was generally the harder it was to find the restaurant the better the food was.

One place I went while I was living in Rome was Lulbjana (sp?), Slovenia. It's a very cute city and things were pretty cheap since they just recently switched over to the Euro. If you go to Venice, take a trip out to the island of Burano. It is so peaceful and clean and beautiful.

You can check out my blog for posts about various places I went: http://godsgreenthumb.blogspot.com

I would go to Prague, and about an hour outside Prague visit All Saints Chapel in Sedlec ("The Bone Church"). Fascinating.
