Kitty
You know you could have just said "What do you think Christ looks like?" The name of this thread sounds like something Yoda would say.

However, it's common usage these days, so pseudo-acceptable.

Skinzo
That second one sure does look like how I imagine, but I actually like the imagery in that first one. Very apocalyptic. I like it.
In the first one, that's what the artist was aiming for, the Christ of the Apocalypse " His head and hair were white like wool, as white as snow, and his eyes were like blazing fire." Revelation 1:14. I guess most of you know that's in the National Shrine of the Immaculate Conception. OK, the eyes are more Scandinavian than anything else. S. MissyP89
I love FutureNun's second image! I'm so sick of seeing pasty white images of Christ--it's just silly, and likely not even close to the real deal.

It is quite common for our Lord and our Lady to be depicted in art with the features similar to those of the people of the region where the work of art is made:
InHisLove726
The Divine Mercy image is definitely my favorite depiction. But I also like this: I think the worst depiction is the actor who played Jesus in "Jesus of Nazareth." I don't know any Middle Eastern man with blue eyes... It's useful in some situations, but in other constructions it makes people like Rexi generate strings of words that are virtually meaningless when he could just conveniently ignore the pile of tripe, say it like everybody else in this time and place says it, and make his meaning clear. Grammar rules, if they're prescriptive at all, should clarify meaning, not obscure it. (Banging head against brick wall...) There. I'm done now. Luigi
I always thought Jesus looked like Paul Newman. At least, that's how I've always pictured him. I also used to think that God the Father looked like the great and powerful Wizard of Oz.

MissyP89
I still can't shake the belief that God the Father looks like Santa minus the red coat and hat. I'm serious.
