If there was any doubt on abortion being included in the health care plan.......it's all gone.

Washington, DC (LifeNews.com) -- While abortion advocacy groups like Planned Parenthood and NARAL, with help from their friends in the mainstream media, have attempted to explain away how the government-run health care plans would pay for abortions, one of their own finally admitted that to be the case.

During a Monday town hall event, pro-abortion Rep. Zoe Lofgren, a California Democrat, acknowledged that the Congressional bills include abortion funding.

"Abortion will be covered as a benefit by one or more of the healthcare plans available to Americans, and I think it should be," she said.

In a video provided to LifeNews.com by pro-life advocate David Schmidt, local pro-life advocate Ignacio Reyes asks Lofgren about the health care plan.

He says he wants to know if the plan would be "covering abortion, which we know that 90 percent of abortions are purely elective, not medically necessary. Why is this being covered when abortion is clearly not health care."

After applause from the audience for the question, Lofgren said the Congressional proposal was "a basic benefit plan developed by health professionals" and then added that she felt abortion should be covered under the legislation.

That the health care plans will lead to abortion funding has been one of primary reasons Americans are increasingly opposed to the bills.

The Associated Press had issued a news story claiming that abortion funding and insurance mandates would not be included, but released a story last week flip-flopping after LifeNews.com put pressure on the news agency in an expose'.

Last week, LifeNews.com exposed how CBS News is covering up the abortion funding tucked away in the government-run health care plan.

Douglas Johnson of the National Right to Life Committee says an amendment the House plan includes would pave the way for abortion funding.

"In reality, under the Capps Amendment, the federal government would run a nationwide insurance plan that would cover abortion on demand," he explained. "Abortionists would perform elective abortions on government-insured clients, send the bill to the government plan, and get checks from the government to pay for the abortions."

We are to think because Abortion is not named in those bills it's not going to be paid for by the Government? Under this plan should it become law?

Unlike you, I don't have enough time to fully read it. I work full time and am preparing for school this fall. So yes, I do rely mostly on what news sites say and what politicians say.

It really raises questions when so many people keep saying abortion isn't in it and then all of a sudden it is. Makes me wonder what else is included in there that is not precisely spelled out.

Excuses. I have class every day and I had time to read it.

If you didn't want to read it because it is too long, you can just say that.

Do we honestly believe that Abortion will not be covered under this plan? Honestly, do we really think a woman that wants to abort her baby is not going to be covered under a plan built and supported by those who are also pro-abortion supporters? The bill and other similar bills do not as to my knowledge list any specific procedure.

Of course it'll be covered. And when this becomes law, your taxes will be going to government funded abortions. What will you do then?

The elected supporters of this bill are denying that, well most of them.

I am new here and have spoken up in a couple of threads but can't hold my tongue any longer -I have to speak out on this!

This sad, sad fact does not surprise me nor should it anybody. One of the reasons I am currently in the process of transferring out of my community into a more "traditional" one is over the issue of our president. I know - separation of church and state - but I cannot understand how any Roman Catholic could possibly support someone who so fully embraces a Culture of Death! I was absolutely horrified during the election cycle when so many of my own sisters supported him and worked on his campaign. I found myself sinking into depression and even at times close to despair over their misguided beliefs of his goodness.

Anybody that would attack and murder a child in a mother's womb - the most defenseless of all God's creations - is capable of anything. I fear for the handicapped, the elderly, the mentally disabled, the depressed, the afflicted, the poorest of the poor - anybody who would OR could possibly be considered an inconvenience!

My only solution for this leadership prayer. I hope and pray the American people (and those we influence) will reject wholeheartedly his evil plans.

Would it be going too far to say I feel he is in league with satan? (While meant as a wink, I am actually serious.)

Did classes take up more than 40+ hours a week?

Not that I recall. I may have insisted there was nothing in the bill about it, which is true.

Either way, I was wrong if I said it wouldn't allow abortions.

Hey defender of the faith you might try being a little more courteous, or charitable, in your responses. Even if you no longer agree with the other people in this topic, you once did, if I'm not mistaken, so you must understand where they're coming from. Believe me, every time i meet an atheist/liberal whatev all i want to do is trash him till he runs home crying to his mother. It's not easy, but I try my best to restrain myself. Veritas in Caritate, that kind of thing

Anyways you raised a good point tho, what is a faithful Catholic supposed to do if our tax dollars start funding abortions? That seems like pretty solid grounds for refusing to pay taxes, leading to a pleasant stay in prison. Anybody else have any insight into this topic?
