I would like a Solemn High Mass in the extraordinary form. I would also like to be buried in a mausoleum.

I kinda figured... ;)

Bending and breaking the rules for Teddy's funeral seems very appropriate. It was his life. The cherry on top of this farce is if the archdiocese accepts 30 pieces of silver from the Kennedys as a sign of gratitude.

The "man" is dead, but the seeds of death and destruction he planted will last decades afterward. Grrr...

you do know kennedy recieved the annoiting of the sick, confession and communion before he died. it would seem he asked for forgiveness. if God forgive him, why should we bare him from anything.

Like was said above, there is still the element of scandal. Publicly he never recanted the evil that he supported. Maybe he received forgiveness for what he has done, or maybe he didn't. We won't know until we're in the ground ourselves... and even then maybe not. :reaper:

but the church obviously believes he asked for forgivness since the approve of the catholic funerul. also, so we should refuse everyone who has a death bed confession/conversion since they don't have time to publically recant all their evils and it could cause scandel. not scandel on kennedy's level, but scandel to everyone they knew? also add to the fact anything can become scandel. the old couple down the street who live chastite together and end up dying and recieve a catholic funeral could cause scandel to all those who believe the couple was living together unchastite? since the couple did not tell every neighbor or person they knew about their situation, should we refuse them a catholic funeral do to possibly creating scandel? why does one not only need to ask for forgiveness but also make a public declaration about all their mistakes to recieve a catholic funeral? should only the most devout and open about their business people recieve a catholic funeral?

There's a difference between an elderly couple going about their business and a politician who spent the better part of the past 40 years working towards the legalization and acceptance of objective evils (i.e., abortion; homosexual marriage) that the Church prohibits.

He had 40 years to publicly recant. Why should he only have to do it as soon as he realizes he's going to die? The fact remains that this is a case of high-profile public scandal. Don't forget that he was a powerful and influential man.

Being a sinner myself, I have to say I wouldn't begrudge anyone the grace of a Catholic funeral. Who knows what happened near the end of his life? he could have had a complete conversion.

People can do whatever they want. I just don't want Eagle's Wings.

I sing that at just about every funeral I do.

:getaclue: Hardly.
Its done as a duet as the funeral procession leaves the church after the Final Commendation,
our Masses are done strictly to GIRM standards.

Guest Servant of Divine

My family had requested "Go in Peace" for the recessional of my dear grandmother's funeral. However due our choir's uncharity, they sang "Take my Hand, Precious Lord" and I hate that song.

The only time we don't do what is requested is if its not an acceptable song, and most families just want the standard stuff anyway: Be not afraid, Eagles wings, You are mine, Amazing grace, Be thou my vision,Hosea, Panis Angelicus, Ave Maria.

Yeah, that's a level headed analysis.

That has nothing to do with it. He's dead. He doesn't need a Catholic funeral. However, every Catholic who used him as part of their justification for supporting abortion needs to see that such support is evil. We hear of him receiving communion every Sunday. Was he recanting the support for abortion prior to each Mass and just happened to fall again right after, before he could make a public statement? It's disgusting that he received a Catholic Mass and the priests who made that decision are responsible for every Catholic deceived by giving him one.
