Brother Adam Posted September 22, 2009 Posted September 22, 2009 I'm very sorry. Sending up prayers for all involved.
missionseeker Posted September 22, 2009 Author Posted September 22, 2009 Being Catholic is comforting. People's statuses aren't just "OMG, we miss you!" ect. They are "may the souls of the faithful departed, through the mercy of God, rest in peace."

missionseeker Posted September 22, 2009 Author Posted September 22, 2009 We were working on the hymn Love Divine All Loves Exceling/ Alleluia Sing to Jesus, and I just.. broke down.
Marie-Therese Posted September 22, 2009 Posted September 22, 2009 Prayers, Kat. I am currently in north metro Atlanta and was nearly trapped by the floods yesterday. It's really scary. Praying for your friend, that God will give peace.
The Bus Station Posted September 22, 2009 Posted September 22, 2009 (edited) His sister is (or was, I don't think she's coming back) in some of my classes. Very nice girl. Please continue to pray for him and his family. Edited September 22, 2009 by The Bus Station
eagle_eye222001 Posted September 22, 2009 Posted September 22, 2009 So sorry you had to make that call.
missionseeker Posted September 22, 2009 Author Posted September 22, 2009 I just got this message "Come up to SCC. I think everyone needs a Catherine hug... those are the best" I think there may be a group of us going this weekend. I have tentatively taken off work. Here is the article: http://www.ajc.com/news/college-student-drowns-in-144040.html
missionseeker Posted September 23, 2009 Author Posted September 23, 2009 Ok... I finally have the story of what happened. There were five guys and they had found costumes (knowing them, probably at goodwill ) and were doing some sort of war reenactment game. Three of them were sloshing around the banks of the pond. Two were not in the water at all (one of those actually was my best friend from SCC, he refused to go in the water) Kevin apparently either slipped or got caught in a current and JH had gone in gotten him and was pulling him out when he blacked out and started drowning, too. JP then went in and got JH out but could not save Kevin. There is some comfort in that they have found his body. And some in knowing that it really was just a horrible accident. It wasn't premeditated and there was no drinking involved. Just foolish decisions. It is still very upsetting and all, but at least it wasn't like he died in a completely... bad state. Please, if you can, offer a Mass for the repose of his soul. i hope he gets it soon. Now, if I can be selfish and ask for prayers for me. I have slept about 8 hours since about 8:30am Sunday morning. I am trying to just be normal, but I have broken down and wept several times today. In class. I try to sleep, and though I am exhausted, I just can't. I lie awake for hours. Despite the efforts of many, hugs are just not helping. (well they are, for a little bit, but then they end). I'm going to try to go to bed, but I will be completely neglecting my homework. I'm pretty sure my professors will understand, but... this is still just not cool.
missionseeker Posted September 23, 2009 Author Posted September 23, 2009 Also... we are learning a reuiem Mass this semester. And, while I know that the words are prayers and all, I am just not looking forward to singing them tomorrow.
CatherineM Posted September 23, 2009 Posted September 23, 2009 Hang in there. Be gentle with yourself. Do what you can and let the rest go. When you need help, ask.
missionseeker Posted September 23, 2009 Author Posted September 23, 2009 I have tentatively taken this weekend off of work. If I can get SCC, I will be there. I really hope to be able to go. I don't like being here alone with no one to give me hugs. I know that's selfish, but you know... even though I don't go there anymore, we all still love each other. It's kind of looking like I can't though. Because I am a class ahead of one girl who now goes here and two ahead of the class from which everyone else came (which means that I didn't know them at SCC, only here) I don't have a seat, despite the fact that these are my best friends (the people involved at SCC). They'll call me if they have room IF they go. Which they may not, due to the weather conditions. But... I feel so ... bleh. Better than yesterday, though.
