Women In Habits 2

Just down the road from my house -- the walls of Jerusalem's Old City (near the Jaffa Gate)

I wonder how it is living in a holy land.

I wonder how it is living in a holy land.

Entirely too many Christians, Muslims, Jews, and various other assorted faiths  :saint2:  in the place.  Three Christmases, three Easters, for example.  It seems as if someone is always celebrating a religious holiday -- Ramadan is coming up, then the Jewish High Holy Days, then Advent...all we seem to miss is Dewali!

Come and see!

July 2, 1978, Sr. Julia Darrenkamp's 1st profession of vows. She recently celebrated her 35th anniversary "in gratitude and stupefied love" for the gift of her vocation. :)

Below, a recent photo of Sister. She's the one with glasses.

Sister seems to have not aged. Is this the community you are joining? :)

I was thinking more along the lines of hippy, but I could go with Hindu too.

Sorry... wouldn't let me back in to edit 2nd one out.  Grrrr.

Wasn't really hippy... but it did solve the problem of what to do with the long hair that kept falling in one's eyes!

Of course... a habit did that, too!

Here's a picture of the Daughters of St. Paul foundress,

Mother Teckla Merlo (center) from just about the same time period.
