Official Support Thread For Homeschoolers

This is the official thread for homeschoolers, and you don't have to be Catholic to talk about it. We can discuss curriculum, High School problems, electives, all sorts of things. It would be fun if there are any home schooling parents out there as well. I am using Seton Home Study to get my High School Degree. I am attempting to finish High School in three years, so I can enter the convent. I taking my math through the virtual program, so I can have a tutor. So, what are you guys doing?

I was doing a program off of my highschool. I was homeschooled up until 10th grade when i transfered to public school. 12th grade i moved but wanted to continue doing sports with them, so i signed up for this new program that they had where i would get my curriculem from them online--so basically i was a homeschooler with public school privelages. It was great....when i actually got to it....i just bearly got my deploma in december

What did you think of the public school curriculum?

Seton, a love hate relationship. Love it because it's going to get me into the convent and it isn't a school school. Hate it because of it's "issues". Luckily I am not doing Latin with them , I have heard terror tales, I am independantly taking German.

I have heard, do you have a teddy bear to hold on to? that there are a minimum of two tests a week. Memorazation of long lists of conjegated verbs are required, you are required to write a paper a quarter completely in latin. The list goes on, and on, and on. Gianna, are your parents making you take a language?

I think that it's dumb that the school system usually doesn't start to teach kids a foreign language until middle school or high school. Learning that late can be way harder than if you start before the age of 12.

I think it's really dumb that the usual language taught is Spanish.

I am going to school through the summer, so I can get a head start. I am also going to try to get an administative assistant certification online, so I can count that as a credit.

My mom wants my brothers and I to work through the summer, so we don't forget anything though we don't do a full school day in the summer, we just do some school work in the morning then we are done!
