Is the hijab unprofessional? Extreme?

I know of a Sister who goes to the medical school here. She does her doctoring in a white lab coat and a veil.

I guess she could always choose to take her veil off.

Who says the punk subculture is unprofessional or extreme?

[/smug]

Lol.

it DOES matter what her hair looks like, i.e. its health. Hair salons sell products too. Her inability to sell those products is detrimental to the business.
Okay, I guess i see your point ... a little bit.

Personally, I have never paid much attention to what the person doing my hair looks like.

In my experience, they try to sell the hair junk AFTER they've given you the cut.

Which to me, is the selling point, not the stylists hair.

If this stylist used these products on my hair and it looks great now, that's all the proof I think is necessary.

Once again, I'm not interested in her knowledge/ability to take care of HER hair. I want to know if she knows how to take care of MY hair.

Of course, I have never been that into buying hair junk. Never had the money to shill out on stuff like that,

"proof" or not.

My stylist is the best, she tells me what products to use and where to buy them for the best prices.

However, if she thought there was a product I would like to try and told me she was wearing it right now, I would be more likely to purchase it if I saw what her hair looked like.

I go to the salon frequently, I know that stylists do not cut their own hair. They do TREAT their own hair, however, and if a stylist has very healthy and cared for hair, I am going to take her advice when she recommends certain products for me to use. How do I know what kind of hair a woman has when it is hidden beneath a baseball hat, scarf, handkerchief, or hijab?

Your comparison to the food service industry and bust size is ridiculous and irrelevant.
black women and white women have different types of hair. Perming a black woman's hair does different things than perming a white woman's hair. A hair salon whose client base may refuse to hire a black woman even if she is absolutly qualified for the job. How can they go to her if her hair is different and styled differently than theirs. How can they be sure she knows how to treat their hair unless they see that she keeps her hair stylish in a simmilar way?

No.

If it makes you feel better, HCF, I would think it odd for religious brothers to be physicians or psychologists, too.
