EmilyAnn Posted February 16, 2012 Posted February 16, 2012
I got dibs on posting pics of Mother Dolores Hart when she is at the Oscars.
Now that is going to be amesome.
marigold Posted February 16, 2012 Posted February 16, 2012 I found some lovely pics! When Gemma mentioned the Poor Clare Colettines recently, I looked them up to find out who they were. And came across this photo essay about the nuns in Cleveland. My favourite, for the composition:
Emma Posted February 16, 2012 Posted February 16, 2012 I wonder what Joan Rivers and the fashion police will say about Mother Dolores's red carpet look. "Who WAS she wearing?" "Black is always so becoming." "She could have used a little bling." "Didn't care for the veil - looked too Taliban." "Were her shoes Jimmy Choos?"
EmilyAnn Posted February 16, 2012 Posted February 16, 2012 From the photo essay marigold posted, I love this one: There is just something so beautifully peaceful and spiritual about her expression.

Gemma Posted February 17, 2012 Posted February 17, 2012
I was working with a discerner on this: http://cloisters.tripod.com/divinemercy/ when she had to put off discernment to care for ailing relatives. I can't expound on what happened with her, but please pray for her housing and job situation. If what she told me was indeed true, it is dire. I gave her what referrals I could, based on the limited knowledge I have of her area. Blessings, Gemma
I have heard back from her, and her situation is improving. She is supported by a wonderful parish. Blessings, Gemma

Pax_et bonum Posted February 17, 2012 Posted February 17, 2012 Her name is Sr. Faustina if you care to know. I think that is her dust mopping too.
EmilyAnn Posted February 17, 2012 Posted February 17, 2012 ^ Yes I think that is her mopping as well. The link says she's in her 20's. I do love seeing pictures of young religious, I am always so inspired.

The newly professed sister is Sister Elizabeth, I believe the two novices are Sister Marie Therese and Sister Mary Thomas if I remember correctly. And another picture from that community. If I am correct, I can't quite tell, that is Sister Mary David, the Novice Mistress.
Why are Benedictine habits so gorgeous? I love nuns!!!
The habits shown here lately, while beautiful in their own right, have all looked to be the same, plain ol' prototypical Benedictine style habits . . . glad to see the bright fuchsia cords though! Refreshing!

Libcath2000 Posted February 19, 2012 Posted February 19, 2012 There are not real nuns but I do like the habits . . . I'd be dripping soup on it all the time!
marigold Posted February 19, 2012 Posted February 19, 2012 (edited) Makes me feel claustrophobic just looking at it. And half my food ends up on my clothes anyway, so I'm glad what I'm looking at is a lifetime of black on black EDIT: Chenoweth!! Edited February 19, 2012 by marigold
