Confirmation Dress

I couldn't find another section of the phorum to post this on, so I figured I would post it here. I am being Confirmed this coming spring/summer (with St. Therese of the Child Jesus as my saint, go figure :) and I found this dress: http://www.hannahlise.com/embroidered-white-dress/ and I love it, but as you can see it is out of stock. I am looking for suggestions for a preferably full-length dress that is white. It can be sleeveless, short sleeved, or long-sleeved because I will wear a sweater. I would be so grateful for any suggestions!

Viva Christo Rey!
Claire

Have you had a look on ebay? I don't really have any suggestions for a dress as such but you might find what you want there. Alternatively the Poor Clares in Wales http://www.poorclarestmd.org/2011/start.html make Holy Communion dresses. If you have a picture of what you want you could email them and ask them if they could make you something similar.

I have tried, but on ebay dresses get sold pretty fast and there is guarantee if they will be there. That is a great idea about the Poor Clares, though, thank you.

I too am getting confirmed soon - hopefully Christmas - My mum is making my dress...is there anyone in your family who could make your dress? Getting a dress made by the Poor Clares sounds so special though! I'd go for that one! :nun:

I am the only one with enough sewing experience in my family, and I have thought about making my dress, so that is still a possibility. Who is your saint? Just out of curiosity.

Catherine of Sienna hopefully or Therese (I know that that's what your name is going to be, I simply love the name and her! My mum is named after her so I think it will be Catherine!) This is such an exciting time for you! have you been going to catechism classes? I haven't gone to any yet, its a bit up in the air at the moment! I

It is such an exciting time! That is wonderful, I love St. Catherine of Sienna, she had so much courage. I have been going to classes, we only started a month ago, and we will have them all year until Confirmation. They are required at the parish I go to, I am homeschooled, so I wish they were not necessary as I have not been getting much out of them  Catholicism is my hobby and I love it, and I pretty much looked up everything there is to know about choosing a sponsor (as I was very confused at the time), and then we get to class the first day and they tell us about choosing a sponsor, and I was fuming, they did not tell us half of what we should know on the matter. That's just my opinion on the classes required for our parish...

Does the dress have to be all white? We were allowed to wear pretty much whatever we wanted. I wore a brown polka-dotted dress for my confirmation, I believe, that I bought at the mall.

See, we are allowed to wear whatever we want, but I really want to wear white because of the other sacraments and the whole purity of the sacrament thing. It's just something that I would like to do.

yeah i'm kind of the same as you! I go to school but all my other time is spent researching Catholicism and different orders and communities of Nuns! I want to wear a white dress too, will you wear a veil or anything? are you contemplating joining the Carmelites of Christo Rey?

I don't know what your budget is, but have you tried searching for white graduation dresses? I didn't know wearing a white graduation dress was a "thing" until some of my East Coast friends told me about theirs. You might get better results with that. :idontknow: Some of them weren't that modest (to put it lightly) but others are, especially if you're wearing it with a sweater. Good luck. :)

That is great, it is always nice to find people like me out there :) I am actually contemplating joining a Discalced Carmelite order. I think they are Teresian Carmelites. Yes, I am going to wear a veil, I am thinking white, but I am not sure what color. I veil in the presence of the Blessed Sacrament on a regular basis, so I will do that for Confirmation as well. It is so razzle dazzle that you are wearing a white dress too, are you going to wear a veil?

I have looked into that, but all the really long ones (I like to wear really long dresses and skirts) have VERY low necklines, and the high-necked ones are pretty short to say the least... Thanks for the suggestion, though!

You can search some sites by colour. If you click white on the left hand side of the page, dresses which are predominantly white come up and then you can look for sale dresses.

I don't know your size, but here is possibly another.

These dresses are really nice, but kind of on the expensive side.
