Confirmation Dress

Does anyone in your family sew? My mama made my dress (it still fits me now, and she made it almost seven years ago!), but it was covered by some awful polyester white robe thing. The patterns for dresses like the one you like are really simple (mainly two pieces, front and back, then sleeves, and then the tie thing around the back) and eyelet fabric (which is what I think the hannahlise dress is made of) can be found at Joann Fabrics or really any type of fabric store (although quilting stores may not have eyelet).

Good luck! I was my sister's confirmation sponsor last June, and it was wonderful! Our priest friend did hers (and he had done mine) as the bishop didn't come and he didn't appoint anyone, so my parish got special permission to have the pastor do it. It was pretty special. And her name was Rose (of Lima).

Who is your confirmation saint?

I couldn't find another section of the phorum to post this on, so I figured I would post it here. I am being Confirmed this coming spring/summer (with St. Therese of the Child Jesus as my saint, go figure :) and I found this dress: http://www.hannahlis...ed-white-dress/ and I love it, but as you can see it is out of stock. I am looking for suggestions for a preferably full-length dress that is white. It can be sleeveless, short sleeved, or long-sleeved because I will wear a sweater. I would be so grateful for any suggestions!

Viva Christo Rey!

I'm confirming, too. :) Why is it so hard to find modest white dresses? hahaha :)

Hi Ladies! I found that you are much more able to find long white dresses if you search for "temple dresses" like Mormon ladies wear:

Likin' these. But that name on the last one has negative conotations... haha gauze.... is it used? Anyway, they're expensive, but nice. And I'd wear them outside of Confirmation and mass. That's something I'm shooting for. Something that isn't just a one-time-wear. I don't like wasting money like that. :)

I could wear those as nightgowns, too.... why do they wear nightgowns and slippers to church? I guess comfort comes first. Expensive comfort at that...

Yeah, that's what I thought about some of them, too. They just seem a little too nightgown-ish for wearing in a Church. I have no idea why they wear slippers unless they want to look like they are sleeping over or something.

I just found the reason for the slippers. I had to research because it was bugging me, but here is what I found:
Men and women alike wear slippers in the temple instead of shoes, recalling God's command that Moses remove his shoes on holy ground (Exodus 3:5).

That is great, it is always nice to find people like me out there :) I am actually contemplating joining a Discalced Carmelite order. I think they are Teresian Carmelites. Yes, I am going to wear a veil, I am thinking white, but I am not sure what color. I veil in the presence of the Blessed Sacrament on a regular basis, so I will do that for Confirmation as well. It is so razzle dazzle that you are wearing a white dress too, are you going to wear a veil?
razzle dazzle - loveit! :proud: yeah i'm going to wear the veil that all of my cousins wore, it's white with a Cross embroidered on the back.

thats brilliant - good luck with your discernment- i'm very excited for you!

Haha the171, razzle dazzle we are having the same Confirmation year! Thanks for the links everybody, I am going to look through them right now. For those of you who asked, my saint is St. Therese of the Child Jesus and the Holy Face, and my sponsor is my CCD teacher from last year who is not your normal CCD teacher, she has been a HUGE blessing in my life and I know God put her in my life for a reason, to be my sponsor, I need her.
