Gemma_Kateri Posted May 21, 2012 Posted May 21, 2012 So many...but I'll pick one. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZDftVG6AHWo&feature=related Really most of Danielle Rose's songs.
PhuturePriest Posted May 21, 2012 Posted May 21, 2012 Well, it may be a little strange, but these songs are really great for me, anyway: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BnD6ojjA0OA http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fqEUnvR1mWo Well, at least parts of them inspire me, anyway. The first one does because I was always looking for God in the wrong things until I realized I may have found out where to find him. The other one is self-explanatory simply for the name of it.

alyssamarie Posted May 24, 2012 Posted May 24, 2012 Just about all songs by Matt Maher or Danielle Rose but particularly: Lay it down http://m.youtube.com/watch?v=NPoxM0D_0n8 Set me as a seal http://m.youtube.com/watch?v=XZOLQLL-tWo Annointing at Bethany http://m.youtube.com/watch?v=bRRJZy9ljxI
OnlySunshine Posted May 28, 2012 Author Posted May 28, 2012 I love this song by Phillips, Craig, and Dean called "The Revelation Song." It brings me to tears listening to the powerful verses and makes me want to serve God even more. How wonderful He is!
OnlySunshine Posted May 29, 2012 Author Posted May 29, 2012 Bumping this up because of the beautiful song above. I can't stop listening to it!
OnlySunshine Posted June 7, 2012 Author Posted June 7, 2012 (edited) My friend introduced me to this song before she left for her former religious order. I haven't heard from her in a while, so please pray for her. I know she is still struggling. But this song is beautiful and it impresses upon my heart to give my life up for Jesus Christ. Just a warning: this video contains scenes from the Passion movie, including the scourging scene which can be very intense for some. PhuturePriest Posted June 15, 2012 Posted June 15, 2012 Ooh, another weird one I love is this one: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=w_GQSH0IClc I suppose I read way too much into the names of songs, but this one immediately reminded me of the Religious life because we are all running as fast as we can to some Monastery, so we are "running to stand still", as it were.

OnlySunshine Posted June 15, 2012 Author Posted June 15, 2012 (edited)
I cannot listen to this song at Mass without getting tears in my eyes. At the Mass at my parish for the World Day of Consecrated Life, the choir sang this and I was trying to sing with them, but I was crying, and my mom had to comfort me. It really tugs at my heart strings and makes me desire religious life even more.
I remembered this song yesterday when I was reading "Come & Follow Me" by Fr. Stefano M. Manelli, FI. I was reading the 2nd to last chapter of the book about Missionaries and it hit me so deep in my heart. I am discerning with a missionary order and it really taught me what it means to go to non-Christian countries and teach them about God. One of the paragraphs brought me to tears:
We ask young readers to listen and ponder. Do you not appreciate how great is a life consecrated to saving our non-believing brothers? If you were in their place, how you would long to meet a missionary who would bring you the saving truths of the Gospel! And perhaps Our Lord is calling you, and you perhaps are not heeding the call, but prefer to be a Christian who "stands idle" (Mt. 10:6) and does not labor in the Lord's vineyard.
I love a quote he inserted from St. Therese of Lisieux: Oh, how I would like to have been a missionary from the time of creation and continue to be one until the end of the world! It made me stop and think how important the call is. Lots of tears too but my favorite part of the Passion movie was in the video. Thanks MM
You're welcome. I've you've never seen "Gospel of John" which was in that music video (the scenes with the adulterous woman and the Samaritan woman at the well), you must get a copy and watch it. It's a great movie and really makes the Gospel come alive. Although, I don't really care for the crucifixion scene. I prefer to watch the Passion instead. "Gospel of John" makes it seem kind of cheesy and corny and that's not what it's about. The Passion is much better. Edited June 15, 2012 by MaterMisericordiae
Strictlyinkblot Posted June 15, 2012 Posted June 15, 2012 A few days ago I started reading the Bible using a reading schedule. When I finished I put my ipod on shuffle and this song came up. While its not a Christian song it just summed up what I was feeling. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FmnDXRJ7btE
emmaberry Posted June 15, 2012 Posted June 15, 2012 (edited) Here are some personal favorites: About being the Bride of Christ--beautiful and partly from Jesus' POV About Jesus' sacrifice of Himself, just as Abraham was willing to sacrifice Isaac, and how we should be ready to lay down our lives if He calls. I HIGHLY recommend all of Danielle Rose's music--especially The Saint That Is Just Me, Small Things With Great Love, Pursue Me, In the Silence of the Heart. her songs are also very theologically sound/deep. For example, in Abraham's Offering, she recognizes all the parallels between Abraham/Isaac and Christ's Passion, and it is just beautiful! I cry every time. Just look at the lyrics of In the Silence of the Heart: In the silence of the heart In the silence of the heart In the silence of the heart You speak Thus says the Lord, "I will allure her I will lead her into the desert. There she shall respond as in the days of her youth, When she came up from the land of Egypt." I shall espouse you to me forever, In right and in justice, love and in mercy; I'll espouse you in fidelity, And you shall know the Lord.
U2 is my favorite band. Take notice that all three songs I posted were by U2.
Yay! U2 is my dad's favorite band and they are up there on my list as well. Unfortunately, many people of our generation discount them as 'old fuddies.' But they ROCK! The Edge has some of the coolest guitar riffs that I have ever heard.
This brings me to tears!!!!
Beautiful! Do you know of anymore songs like this?? Edited June 15, 2012 by emmaberry
