Pax_et bonum Posted November 26, 2012 Posted November 26, 2012 This beautiful young woman, Amanda Vernon, came to my school this Sunday evening to give a talk/concert. One of her songs is called "With This Ring." She told us her father gave her a purity ring around the time of her Confirmation and about the impact that had on her life. Obviously the song is supposed to be about waiting for marriage, but I immediately thought of the vow of chastity. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zER0FzkknBY Yes, that is actual footage from their wedding. If you liked the song, you can go buy her music at http://www.amandavernon.com/ She has such a beautiful soul, so it'd be great if you are able to help her continue her ministry by supporting her music.

OnlySunshine Posted December 6, 2012 Author Posted December 6, 2012 (edited) I heard this recently and it takes a deeper meaning for me everytime I listen to it. It's a good song to meditate on during Advent. Edited December 6, 2012 by MaterMisericordiae
OnlySunshine Posted December 9, 2012 Author Posted December 9, 2012 This is such a beautiful song! It was on the CD that I got at the retreat last weekend. I've never heard it before, but it's deeply meaningful, especially the verse that says: "And I can hardly wait for the day I get to lay it all down." Chiarateresa Posted December 9, 2012 Posted December 9, 2012 Beloved by tenth avenue north a song of Christ to the church makes me think of vocations http://m.youtube.com/#/watch?v=6CUGTIWCFyo&desktop_uri=%2Fwatch%3Fv%3D6CUGTIWCFyo
OnlySunshine Posted December 11, 2012 Author Posted December 11, 2012 I love Danielle Rose's music. I had listened to the song "Hail, Holy Queen" on her CD, "Mysteries." I just started listening to her CD, "Pursue Me." I think the most beautiful song I've listened to should go here. Follow Me by Danielle Rose
Catholicterp7 Posted December 11, 2012 Posted December 11, 2012 This might be a little strange but my song with Jesus is At the Beginning from the Anastasia cartoon. It really speaks to my discernment struggles and God's love that will get me through this crazy journey that is discernment. We were strangers starting out on our journey Never dreaming what we'd have to go through Now here we are and I'm suddenly standing At the beginning with you No one told me I was going to find you Unexpected what you did to my heart When I lost hope you were there to remind me This is the start (chorus) And Life is a road and I want to keep going Love is a river I want to keep flowing Life is a road now and forever A Wonderful journey I'll be there when the world stops turning I'll be there whenthe storm is through In the end I wanna be standing At the beginning with you We were strangers on a crazy adventure Never dreaming how our dreams would come true Now here we stand unafraid of the future At the beginning with you (chorus) I knew there was somebody somewhere Like me alone in the dark I know that my dream will live on I've been waiting so long Nothing's gonna tear us apart Another one is called Bride of Jesus by April Verch. My parents went to see her in concert one time and she played this song there. They were both shocked because she doesn't bill herself as a Christian artist but clearly she is because she writes songs like this. I wore my hair in pretty ringlets My father swore they were spun gold and so I cried though I tried not to on the day my locks were shorn There was a boy in my childhood I hoped some day to be his wife but I have traded earthly pleasures for this gown of black and white Chorus: I will know no mortal lover, I will take no wedding vow, but I rejoice that He has called me I am the bride of Jesus now. I feed my soul I tend my garden I spend my days in silent praise though I am poor with few possessions still I am rich beyond compare For in His loving arms He holds me and all my heart I give to Him He is my strength He is my passion He is my Savior and my friend Chorus: I will know no mortal lover I will take no wedding vow but I rejoice that He has called me I am the bride of Jesus now. I also really love Josh Groban's You Are Loved which was already posted here before. JMJ+
petitpèlerin Posted December 28, 2012 Posted December 28, 2012 @FuturePriest387 Nothing weird about "Running to Stand Still". Beautiful song. One of my favorites of all time. U2 was my favorite band ever and I sort of put it to rest years ago and listen to it only sporadically, but right now the only music I can listen to is The Unforgettable Fire (meaning the album but including the song). Highlighting: A Kind of Homecoming The Unforgettable Fire Indian Summer Sky and most especially: Promenade "I see you stare into space, have I got closer now behind the face Oh, tell me, tell me that you would dance with me, turn me around tonight, up through the spiral staircase to the higher ground" http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cxZPxtGP2pw
OnlySunshine Posted February 13, 2013 Author Posted February 13, 2013 I love this song:
FutureSister2009 Posted February 13, 2013 Posted February 13, 2013 I have an entire list of Vocational songs on my Facebook which I am not allowed to go on until Sunday *cough Lent* But I am posting two http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8Ffdbo9Hypo You are for me by Kari Jobe. It's so pretty with such true and simple lyrics http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Omsw6NOA8rc And this which I fell in love with instantly. Wedding Day by Casting Crowns. I can't wait until the day I am married to Our Lord. I will listen to this when that special day finally comes.
FutureSister2009 Posted February 14, 2013 Posted February 14, 2013 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Dooif2-yAoI Okay one more, especially since it's Valentine's Day. This song is pretty much my life story
Annie12 Posted February 16, 2013 Posted February 16, 2013 I'm too lazy to see if someone already posted this but I love this song: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6CUGTIWCFyo
domenica_therese Posted February 19, 2013 Posted February 19, 2013 (edited) I had my music on random, and this song popped up:http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bjKFb-4t_vgI just love it, because it really exemplifies my current sentiments regarding religious life. FutureSister2009 Posted February 19, 2013 Posted February 19, 2013 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YLwHElK29MA I can't stay out of this thread. This song I just heard for the first time over the weekend while I was with the Salesians. This was one of the songs that was sung while we were at the Visitation. It was the only song that stayed in my head the most. It's perfect for Lent and for Vocations. I cried for most of the song.
