What advantage do Keurigs have over regular coffee machines that would justify the expense if you are not using the cups?

Average ground coffee
$8.99 per pound, the cost of a cup brewed is 25 cents if you assume 42 cups per pound and an average of 15% left over coffee in the pot that is tossed.

Single use K-cups:
Packs of 48 cups for $24 after sales and free shipping or 50 cents per cup

How much will it cost over the course of a year of drinking 2 cups each day?
Answer: $182.50 for bagged ground coffee; $365.00 for K-Cups

the price breakdown helps. I only drink one cup at home a day, the croutons at work doesnt count

Max ... a regular one cup machine would have almost the same effect. You're right. A one cup machine would be cheaper with just about the same amount of cleanup.

I love my family's french press. We get the coffee ground a different way when we buy it (we don't grind our own), and it works perfectly. My family is from an area of the country that likes their coffee to "stand up and talk to them" and the french press works perfectly.

Oh and vee -- I like the smaller version of the keurig better. I like about 16-20 ounces of coffee. With the small keurig, I pour in twice and brew with the same k-cup. Since there is a pause, the brew strength on the 2nd part (past the 10-12 oz) is stronger than if it went through all at once.

Now I have toyed getting the new keurig (the vue one). Now that's expensive.

Only my relatives from Belfast do. They put whisky in their oatmeal. It's strange.

Just milk, or half and half. Sometimes I add chocolate if I'm adventurous. :P

That is the best type of coffee. Does she use a new, washed, clean cotton sock? And colombian expresso? Yum.

Where we stayed in Belfast, there was a whiskey dispenser near the oatmeal. It was just like the coffee dispenser, except with whiskey.

It was strange.

I'm not sure, what she uses for a filter, but the coffee is probably from the island, I say probably because I don't now if she's ventured into imported coffee or not, but it' could be something like Yaucono.

Yaucono is ok. My mom (q.d.e.p.) used to mix yaucono together with el pico.
