Cistercian Nuns have my favorite habit. The sleeves in particular. I don't feel called to that order, but the habits are lovely .

That is not their habit but their choir dress. I believe in English it's called a cowl. Benedictines have it too (in black). Their habits have normal sleeves ;)

The cowl sleeves are AWESOME. I remember sitting in choir thinking they looked like bats. :hehe: And every morning in the cloister at least one or two sisters would come in with the hems of their cowls upturned and someone would dart from their place to fix it.
It took me embarrassingly long to figure out why their sleeve length changed for Mass.

No point in posting another picture because everybody knows what it looks like, but it HAS to be the Carmelite habit - because it's Carmelite (naturally! )

But brown is sooo unflattering!

Benedictines are better...black is slimming. :hehe:

I look awful in brown. I have this weird Latin American skin tone that does not suit brown.

Nah, you're both wrong! The best habit color is BLUE!

My sisters actually wear a dark grey, though the friars wear brown.

I've never wanted to be a nun. I told my spiritual father that I would be a nun if I could wear a hood. (I've been wearing hoodies half my life and feel naked without a hood.) Then I discovered the Sisters of Bethlehem. Now it's our joke that they're the "nuns with hoods". Wish I could figure out how to post a photo but I do love their habits: simple and monastic.

The Congregation of Our Lady of Walsingham have a light blue denim sleeveless dress (jumper I believe Americans call it) with a white long sleeved top underneath and a scapular and hood of the same colour. Although you'd have to move to England. http://www.walsinghamcommunity.org/
