the171 Posted November 18, 2012 Posted November 18, 2012 Norseman, you aren't being much of a gentleman. Isn't it the man'a goal to prevent the woman from harm and ensure that she goes to heaven? Well, currently you are only hurting, not helping.
EmilyAnn Posted November 18, 2012 Posted November 18, 2012
If they truly repented, would they be whining and playing the victim card?
How dare you question anyone's repentance? Who do you think you are? That is between them and the Lord. You are not judge and jury. As shocking as this might be, you are a sinner just the same.
Norseman82 Posted November 18, 2012 Posted November 18, 2012
Who the **** are we to judge others based on whether or not they are virgins? We know for a fact that St Augustine was not a virgin and had sex outside of marriage--he even had a son! He later went to confession, repented, and ya know, became the guy we know St Augustine to be. We are not God. People who have had sex before marriage are not "damaged goods." No one is damaged goods. Good Lord, if we don't believe that God can forgive all sins, and that he loves us unconditionally and that he'll take us back, then what is the point of hoping for salvation?
First of all, watch the language. Second, if the concept of "damaged goods" stops a person from sinning, then it is a good thing. Perhaps the loss of this concept has contributed to the increase of promiscuity (which is now considered the norm) in the last 30-50 years and so it should in fact be brought back. Even if some people may feel hurt, society will as a whole be better off with less rampant promiscuity.

Norseman82 Posted November 18, 2012 Posted November 18, 2012
Nope, there's no "someTHING" there, other than the two people. You give of your whole self to another person, and that person gives their whole self to you. Your whole self is still there, even if you had sex with someone else and went to confession for it. Obviously it's best to not have premarital sex. But what are we supposed to tell people who have realized their mistakes, and want desperately to turn away from sin and be faithful to the Gospel? Don't we have faith in the sacraments? Who among us has not sinned?
How can you give your WHOLE self when someone else has a part of you that should have gone to your spouse? It is more accurate to say you are giving all of what is left.

homeschoolmom Posted November 18, 2012 Posted November 18, 2012 And away we go. I'm pleased that we were able to have 5 decent pages before the feathers started flying. There are many threads on this topic. But as they always, always descend into arguing (as this one has now done), this thread will join the others in being closed.
