I noticed that, too, the website says the 2004 platform won't be released until July, but I think that not much will change on alot of major issues.
I'm a canadian, so I'll be voting conservative. I think they'll hurt the country economically, but their social policies are the only ones I can abide. So while they're certainly pests and parasites, they're the lesser of two weevils.

While I'm not sure how well you have been following the Canadian election, the conservatives (Stephen Harper in particular) have repeatedly stated they will not vote in favour of revoking a woman's right to chose or anything pro-life or against moral issues like gay marriage. Their only redeeming quality was their stance on social issues, and they dropped that. To vote for them now owuld be like supporting their choice to drop the pro-life platforms and like you said, voting for pests and parasites.

However the Conservatives are the only party who said they will not get in the way of an abortion bill and we all know that they will not approve of Same-Sex marriage. Harper was avoiding the abortion topic because he knew he would have got massacred if he brought it up. Although, he didnt deny his members the ability to introduce a bil outlawing abortion and personally he is a staunch envagelistic Christian and they have other strong Christians like Steven Fletcher, and Stockwell DAy in their party.
If someone votes for someone that is anti-life when someone is running against them is pro-life, then if they claim to be Catholic, they understand very little of what it means to be Catholic.
Disagree, disagree, disagree. And since no argument was given to back this up, and I already posted something about this in another thread, I won't bother giving an argument either.

That said, I think ironmonk cited some good reasons for being a Republican (for the record, I am neither a Republican nor Democrat). Obviously being pro-life is at the top, even though the GOP is not a pro-life as the Catholic Church is. But saying you're Republican because you believe in God--what's that about? Democrats are atheists now? I think not.
