St. Mary's Benedictine (monks) Abbey, Morristown, NJ. There appear to be a couple of typos in their newsletter, which I've corrected in [ ] .

On Wednesday, 21 March 2015 [2018?] at Mass, Abbot Richard will receive the first profession of vows of Br. William McMillan, who has been with us as a postulant and novice since The Fall 2016. At Solemn Vespers on the 21th [21st?], the abbot will receive into the novitiate, Javier Brion, who has been with us as a postulant since the Fall 2017. Both men are graduates of Seton Hall Prep.

From the Spring 2018 newsletter of the Dominican nuns in Farmington Hills, Michigan (Blessed Sacrament monastery):

We have a new sister: Sr. Jamie! Coming from Sacramento, California, Sr. Jamie Leatherby, 23, is 2nd of 6 children in a large and fervent Catholic family. She graduated from Franciscan University of Steubenville in December 2015 and since then has taught high school theology and led youth ministry. Last June she visited the Dominican Sisters of Mary, Mother of the Eucharist in Ann Arbor for their discernment retreat, where they urged her to look into Dominican cloistered life because of her desire for perpetual adoration. They knew of a monastery close by and the rest is history – she found her home. You’ll learn more about Sr. Jamie in a future issue of Echoes. Please pray for her as she starts her formation as an Extern Sister.

From the Marianists (Society of Mary):

Joseph Kurt Nugent will profess first vows as a Marianist brother on May 19 in Dayton.

Joseph, 29, was born in Nova Scotia. He met the Marianists through Frs. John Kracher and Luis Melo (Region of Canada) when he was a teenager. He completed the Marianist aspirancy program in San Antonio in 2014. He then entered the Oblate School of Theology, where he earned a master’s degree in theological studies. Joseph has a bachelor’s degree in philosophy with a minor in Catholic studies from the University of Manitoba. He entered the Marianist novitiate in 2016.

Learn more about Marianist formation.

Congratulations, Joseph!

Three postulants admitted to the novitiate at St. Bernard's Abbey (Cullman, Alabama). If you know any prayers, send 'em up for these guys. St. Bernard's has received 16 vocations since 2001 - and now another three, assuming all three persevere.

Their actual names are Cassian, Simeon, and Paul. Left to my own devices, I would have named them Brothers Massimo, Medio, and Minimo.

From Saint Anselm Benedictine Abbey in New Hampshire - a postulant entered the monastery on the feast of the Trasitius of St. Benedict. They have two monks in temporary vows, one novice, and two postulants who entered in August. With this addition, they have six men in formation.

Assumption Abbey added 3 new photos.

Last week on the Feast of St. Benedict, Novice Ian made his first vows and was also given the monastic name of Maximilian! So congratulations to Br. Maximilian - may his monastic journey be filled with the joy of our Lord!

This is a pretty large abbey - about 50 monks. MOstly they farm their land, but they also sponsor retreats and staff parishes. They also have a daughter house in Bogota, Colombia.

From St. Joseph Abbey (Benedictine monks) in Louisiana. These are what I call The Monks of Fire and Flood - they've been hit pretty hard by a couple of recent devastations. But they're also getting a steady influx of vocations - I think they've got six men in formation now. This entrance into the novitiate must've happened on March 28th or so. They also run the largest seminary in the US.
