Luigi Posted July 16, 2018 Author Posted July 16, 2018 From Saint Leo Benedictine Abbey in Florida (a little northeast of Tampa): Friends, it has been a busy 2 months at Saint Leo Abbey. On June 3rd we had Brother Roman Rupp make his entrance into simple vows upon the completion of his novitiate. He was joined by his beloved family and friends from home and new ones that he has made during his time here. June 10 during vespers, two of our oblates were allowed to enter for a year of discernment. John Bakas, oblate coordinator for the abbey, was given the name Giovanni after Pope John XXIII who was known as “the good pope.” The name is a testament to his kind heart and pleasant presence. To his side is Father Fidelis Portuondo, a former monk of our house and the guest master of the Abbey. He was given the name Barnabas, the kind man from the Book of Acts who believed in giving second chances. Lastly, on the morning of July 11, the feast of our Holy Father Benedict, Brother Apollo Rodriguez made his solemn profession becoming a full member of Saint Leo Abbey after being with us for four years. Thank you to those who joined us for these days and please continue to pray for us; the old and the young. ###############################################
