Nunsuch Posted September 5, 2018 Posted September 5, 2018 (edited) Hna. Caridad is correct. I actually knew sisters in the international congregation at the time of the split, with more traditional sisters forming the new congregation. [Note: I am not being judgmental of either group!] I do know that those who formed the "Mother of the Church" community were originally part of the Dutch congregation. Thank you both @Hna.Caridad and @Nunsuch! This make so much more sense now.

Makarioi Posted September 10, 2018 Posted September 10, 2018 That's wonderful! however, I haven't seen Sr.Chiara Marie of Our Lady Star of the Sea (Strictly Inkblot) in their pictures in a while :o
DameAgnes Posted September 18, 2018 Posted September 18, 2018 New postulant for the Sisters of Charity of our Lady, Mother of the Church. Apparently in this community you take your name-in-religion upon entrance into the postulancy. Sr. Jacinta and Sr. Faustina make their first vows with the Sisters, Slaves of the Immaculate Heart of Mary.

I well could have it wrong again. In the above Order do the postulants receive the habit on entering the noviciate but do not dress as brides until first profession? Usually I think, the postulants dress as brides when receiving the habit and entering the noviciate - and then exchange the white veil of the novice for the black veil on first profession.

Usually I think, the postulants dress as brides when receiving the habit and entering the noviciate - and then exchange the white veil of the novice for the black veil on first profession. Every community has its own ways. Some communities, like the Benedictines of Mary, do the bridal thing upon vestition. Some do it at first profession. Some (most) don't do it at all. Some communities give a ring at final profession, some at first profession (these Slaves and the Passionists come to mind) while others do not use a ring at all. Some communities, like the Benedictines at Regina Laudis, use a white veil for novices, a cream-colored one for simple profession and then black at solemn profession. This piece doesn't get to all the variables but it helps. https://aleteia.org/2016/07/13/sisters-nuns-aspirants-postulants-novices-what-does-it-all-mean/ I didn't even know this community had a novice, but the All Saints Sisters of the Poor (who came into the church as Anglican nuns and (I think?) are part of the Ordinariate, just celebrated a first profession. As the community points out in the comments, Sr. Mary Martha's veil is different and will be the same as the rest at final profession, when she will also receive the ring and girdle. I have a picture but I have no idea if you can see it. If you can, the top row is Sr. Mary Grace, SV, Sr. Fidelity Grace, SV, Mother Agnes Mary, Sr. Gaudia Maria Magdelena SV, Sr. Catherine Joy Marie Second row: Sr Anne Immaculee, SV, Sr. Mary Casey O'Connor, Sv, Sr. Zelie Maria Louis, SV all with Bishop Caggiano of Diocese of Bridgeport, CT. Okay well, I've tried every which way to add the picture of the 1st professions. If this doesn't work, I give up. It's not even a big picture, but I can't get it to load.
