JHFamily Posted August 7, 2018 Posted August 7, 2018 Six novices for the Sisters for Life. 2018 Novices
Bonkira Posted August 8, 2018 Posted August 8, 2018 The Poor Clares in Boston vested one novice in June... ...and welcomed one new postulant this week. I believe they have one other postulant right now as well...these vocations are a huge blessing, as the community has been praying for new sisters for awhile. They also take older vocations, too, as noted by their new postulant.
deusluxmea Posted August 15, 2018 Posted August 15, 2018 Nashville Dominicans: Nine postulants became novices: https://www.nashvilledominican.org/news-and-media/photo-gallery/view-gallery/?gallery-id=42 Eleven novices make their first profession of vows (no photos yet) Ten sisters made perpetual profession of vows (no photos yet) ...and they receive new postulants today (August 15)! I have to say, they do seem to have good retention in this order.

DameAgnes Posted September 4, 2018 Posted September 4, 2018 New postulant for the SFFPA's first time I've ever seen a "single" postulant enter. Usually there are several.
DameAgnes Posted September 4, 2018 Posted September 4, 2018 New Novice for the Sisters of St. Francis Third Order, in Peoria. They recently had a first profession. I know a former PMer, Jamie (now Sr. Veronica) is over there. She probably has made her final vows by now, I should think. Anyone know? Also, this new novice, plus the sister in first vows are "later vocations" for anyone interested.
DameAgnes Posted September 4, 2018 Posted September 4, 2018 Sisters of Charity of Our Lady, Mother of the Church. Never heard of them. I'm always confused by communities that switch black and white habits. They have a postulant coming in Sept.

It also seems that they have a very gradual change in habits over formation: first year novices change from small grey veils to white veils, second year novices get scapulars, etc.

They are from the Sisters of Charity of Our Lady, Mother of Mercy, a community founded in the early 19th century in the Netherlands. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sisters_of_Charity_of_Our_Lady_Mother_of_Mercy

Hna.Caridad Posted September 5, 2018 Posted September 5, 2018 Upon reading that website, it would appear that Mother Marie Alma Lafond was an American member of an American province (Immaculate Heart of Mary) of the Dutch Sisters of Charity congregation. It wasn't unusual in the 1970's for members of American provinces of European congregations to break off and form independent congregations in the U.S. I'm aware of at least two other cases where this happened and another case of an independent congregation coming out of the U.S. province of a Canadian congregation. For more information on the Dutch Sisters' of Charity presence in the U.S.: http://sistersofcharity.nl/en/usa
