Nihil Obstat Posted November 4, 2020 Author Posted November 4, 2020 We are now just into the second trimester for our second little one, expected in May. Exactly a year after our miscarriages - it seems providential.
Anomaly Posted November 4, 2020 Posted November 4, 2020 Good for you. May all stay happy and healthy!
ContemporaryCaflicCrusader Posted November 7, 2020 Posted November 7, 2020 I recognize you and am glad to do so!
Sister Andrew Posted November 8, 2020 Posted November 8, 2020 I was never active too much but I used to read the phorum a lot. It's good to see some familiar names. Praying for y'all.
CatherineM Posted November 8, 2020 Posted November 8, 2020 Miscarriages are a special cross. Prayers for another healthy baby.

We are almost done the casting process for his clubfoot, then we start using a brace.
Nihil Obstat Posted June 15, 2021 Author Posted June 15, 2021 Thank you! Oh, and I have recently decided to make a drastic career change by going back to school for a B.Ed. Starting classes this September, and I hope to be teaching in the local Catholic school board by fall 2023. There is a small local Catholic university with an excellent reputation which offers a two year program for students who already have a bachelor's degree.
islandanchoress Posted June 22, 2021 Posted June 22, 2021 Ahhh ,,, wonderful photos.. thank you and blessings to all there.
CatherineM Posted July 5, 2021 Posted July 5, 2021 It’s amazing how having kids can change your career ideas.
Nihil Obstat Posted July 5, 2021 Author Posted July 5, 2021 The stability and security - once I get into the Calgary separate system - is definitely very appealing. And it provides a natural way forward in doing a master's later and getting into school admin or curriculum development as I gain experience.
Nihil Obstat Posted May 30, 2023 Author Posted May 30, 2023 Well friends, it has been a time. This will, I suspect, be my last post in the forum. I am around on Reddit, Facebook, Discord, if we find ourselves back together again. I am now a certificated teacher in Alberta, employed by my local Catholic school district. It turns out that, despite how difficult this job can be, I am very good at it. Our Lord blessed me with just enough wisdom to find my calling here, and I am honoured to be one infinitesimally small part of His plan. I am blessed every day to work with diverse and beautiful groups of children - many refugees, children with trauma and disabilities, difficult family situations, as well as many privileged kids who, as much as anyone else, always need a strong figure in their lives to model faith, hope, and charity, critical thinking, resilience. Katy (Moosey) and I have a daughter and a son, with one more little one on the way this fall/winter. Life is very good, and the Blessed Mother seems to be holding us close. I joined the forum fifteen years ago in June. I have found family and good friends here. @dUSt - thank you for the countless hours you spent providing this platform. Fac me tecum pie flere, crucifíxo condolére, donec ego víxero. Mater Dolorosa, ora pro nobis.

I do hope things are on the improve for you. Other than that, really good to see you on the Board again. Regards........Barb @dUSt, could we have the kudos system back please, dUSt?
Nihil Obstat Posted May 19, 2024 Author Posted May 19, 2024 Felt like a nice time for a check-in. My third child was born, a daughter. This year of teaching has gone extremely well, and in a couple weeks I will be applying for a permanent position, as the first year is always probationary. Very excited to work out what school I'll be working at next. I've loved my school this year and I'd happily stay here. I found out a few days before the start of classes last September that I'd been placed with a grade 6 homeroom and, unexpectedly, grade 1, 2, and 3 music. So I've had the pleasure of spending a big chunk of every week playing guitar and singing with 6-10 year-olds, and developing some pretty in-demand experience for my resume. It has been very rewarding teaching religion this year as well.
