273924898-4753147111450829-4892214910050This is Ukraine pictured on top of a map of Europe.

It's the biggest European country, bigger than France.

Donbass territories, occupied by Russia, are as big as Switzerland.

What is happening now is not a small local conflict, but a hazard for the whole world.»

KYIV, Ukraine (AP) — Russia on Sunday rescinded earlier pledges to pull tens of thousands of its troops back from Ukraine’s northern border, in a move that U.S. leaders warned put Russia another step closer to launching an invasion of Ukraine. Russian President Vladimir Putin was silent on Ukraine’s appeal for a cease-fire.

Russian President Vladimir Putin ordered troops into the breakaway Luhansk and Donetsk regions Monday night, following his decision earlier in the day to recognize those regions as independent republics, and no longer part of Ukraine.

The troops will carry out “peacekeeping functions” in the two regions, according to the order.

The troops will carry out “peacekeeping functions” :think2:  peacekeeping functions?

They (Putin) say the words but they don't know what they mean

Could we agree that peace and territorial integrity in any country is a value in itself and should be protected for the people there, not for it's economical worth whatsoever?

Russia’s invasion of Ukraine could push U.S. and world food prices even higher

the Ukraine region is one of the world’s largest producers of wheat and some vegetable oils.  The disruptions could drag on for months or even years, as crop production in the area could be halted and take a long time to restart.

Ukraine is the world’s fourth-largest exporter of both corn and wheat. It is also the world’s largest exporter of sunflower seed oil, an important component of the world’s vegetable oil supply. Together, Russia and Ukraine supply 29 percent of all wheat exports and 75 percent of global exports of sunflower oil, said Kelly Goughary, senior research analyst Gro-Intelligence, an agriculture data platform

No only higher food prices, but so much wasted vodka mistakenly gotten rid of in protest. I hope the Russian protesters who are getting arrested do my good. I can’t imagine a good ending until Putin is taken out of power.

In discussing the recent Armenian war vs the current Ukraine war, the involvement of NATO seems to have a big impact on how the war is dealt with by the rest of the world. We have a lot closer defense ties. Today I heard they have applied for emergency membership in the EU, along with a lot of our nation friends. Apparently they discontinued membership in CIS in 2018 due to continued tensions with Russia.

There will always be economic considerations in this fallen world, but the people are the biggest and best reason why any of this matters.

Lord have mercy and bring salvation to the people affected by they conflict and around the world.

Several sources of both approved and unapproved private revelation predicted that Russia would invade Europe and get as far as Rome.  Just something to keep in the back of your mind as this whole thing progresses.  It is, indeed, important.

In this war in the Ukraine, I expect to see a short hiatus, followed by Russia continuing and then making war against Europe and the US.  Meanwhile, China will take Taiwan and the Philippines and several other countries.
