BeenaBobba Posted August 30, 2004 Posted August 30, 2004 No, I'm not physically challenged, but I suffer from depression, anxiety, and OCD, so that's a mental challenge of sorts. God bless, Jen
BeenaBobba Posted August 30, 2004 Posted August 30, 2004 Pete, you rock! I used to work with a woman who has your condition, and she was pretty cool. Her condition didn't slow her down much, and I thought that was awesome. God bless, Jennifer
Dave Posted August 30, 2004 Posted August 30, 2004 (edited) I was born prematurely (about 6 weeks or so), and I was found not to have really good coordination while still an infant. It had to have been because of my prematurity. It took me longer to learn how to tie my shoes, use scissors, drive, swim, and even play team sports. It's much better that it used to be, though. I mean, I'm now, at age 28, trying to become the athlete I never felt I was! I even want to start swimming competitively. Edited August 30, 2004 by Dave
lifeteenchick527 Posted August 30, 2004 Posted August 30, 2004 kool Dave, i hope all goes well with eveything God Bless Alena
Guest T-Bone Posted August 30, 2004 Posted August 30, 2004 Way cool Dave...I was never good a sports, then I discovered running. I seem to have a natural talent for it, although I've been lazy the past few.....er...eight years.
Cat Germ Posted August 30, 2004 Posted August 30, 2004 I admire people with disabilities, to me they seem very couragous.
Noel's angel Posted August 30, 2004 Posted August 30, 2004 i dont think u should admire someone just because they have a dissability, it seems odd to me that u would............
Cat Germ Posted August 30, 2004 Posted August 30, 2004 You do have a point there Noel's Angel, I didn't explain myself very well. The neighborhood we moved into doesn't have very many people with disabilities, thus I rarely see them. But when I do, I can't help admiring them for not being still in bed. If I had some of the disablitities they have I would definetly be in bed. One man that I admire very much sings in the choir and is very much into community work, even though he has to go to dialasis once or twice a week. That and he never seems to have a down moment, he is always doing something nice for someone. :mouse: cat
Pete-ster Posted August 30, 2004 Author Posted August 30, 2004 It's all in the attitude...You can use your disabilites to improve your life and the lives of others, or you can sit around and mope about it. As my uncle, the great sage and emminant wise man says, "If you're delt a bad hand in life--bluff your @ss off."

Scofizzle Posted August 31, 2004 Posted August 31, 2004 I was temporarily handicapped and it was not fun, for me anyways.
Pete-ster Posted August 31, 2004 Author Posted August 31, 2004 'tis lots of fun. You get to ride the special bus to school! Just curious, what was you temporary disability?

Big Joe Posted September 27, 2004 Posted September 27, 2004 I-I-I h-h-h-ave have a-a s-s-s-se-sev-severe st-st-st-st-stutter.
azaelia Posted September 27, 2004 Posted September 27, 2004 I have bad knees, bad circulation, and a random eating disorder where I eat alot one day and nothing the next. But those aren't "handicaps". I prefer to call them "personality quirks".
Big Joe Posted September 27, 2004 Posted September 27, 2004 Heh... One of my friends, who's deaf (met him in speech therapy), always said, "Deafness isn't so much a handicap as a way of life"
DemonSlayer Posted September 29, 2004 Posted September 29, 2004 I'm not physically crippled, but I do have chronic back/neck pain/fatigue.
RC_ Posted August 12, 2005 Posted August 12, 2005 (edited) I'm deaf and use a wheelchair, my twin brother is mentaly impaired (he's like a third grader, mentally). I sometimes joke that he got the body, and I got the brain. I don't consider these a handicap, like Big Joe's friend, it's more a way of life. edit: also I was born with seven fingers...three on the left hand, four on the right. Edited August 12, 2005 by RC_
