Donna
Re: Amarkich's posts back on page 2 or 3 (who I guess cannot now answer), Catholic society, etc: This is a rant: St. Therese's Mom owned a business....does anyone here think Theresa of Avila was some sighing, frilly little thing? I wouldn't want to meet her in a dark alley (he he, j/k my lady and Saint). Religious orders of women, doing everything, voting amongst themselves and governing their affairs? How...unwomanly? I direct the following against a certain arrogant attitude which would make wives and mothers oldest daughters and not equals to their husbands, and to the Church, shame on them. I am not talking about submission. I'm talking about quite frankly little boys who do not think "their" women (parishoners or wives), nor Our Lady, are women, but rather little girls. In fact, that's an insult to little girls, who as we all know (iif we know any) can be some of the most feminine, capable, graced in athletics, etc; ppl there are. I guess this attitude really doesn't see women as people. They don't think of Mary as Seat of Wisdom, Destroyer of Heresies. They don't think of her as tough in the sense of giving a good ass-whipping when it's needed. Such people have not suffered enough. They don't even know a teeny shard imagining of the sword of humiliation and suffering which pierced Our Lady's soul. And I challenge this shallowness and say it is not Catholic; for did Our Lord Himself "lord it over" His mother and father (St. Joseph) who He was, and whom they were not? Look at the Scriptures, we know it is not so. And the Holy Family kept to their proper places out of love. True love which is holy, prudent, wise...and sweet! So sweet! Not some yoke that's just pounded into one violently...ye shall not bruise the bent reed! Nor shall ye break the bruised reed. Who are the good confessors? The holiest? They are the ones who are so humble that you don't even notice them. They are sweet, they make you want to be better, because they encourage you via your reason, your submissiveness to God and Faith, and they recognize this as not only the proper act of the creature to the Creator, but an act of great strength and courage. And they know the magnitude of burden and what soldierly manfulness you practice and need more of, to win this fight. There is a problem w/ a certain Jansenistic attitude toward women among some trad ppl. The good priests know what bull**** trad women put up with, by erring husbands who hopefully come out of it; by traditional clergy, too...and how many of these husbands and clergy were homeschooled (no offense, hsmom) in isolation, knowing little of the world? Paradoxically, such are Mama's boys, in the bad sense of the term. IMO: these are the same class of clerics who think Catholic Society will be built up w/ only menial workers, because the engineers and doctors and etc; would have to go to a modern university. The same ilk who blast the suburb mentality while conveniently accepting donations from suburban-dwellers, Catholic men raising families, blessed w/ that technical/higher ed career. Who are sheep among the hellish wolves of modern society, its impurity and banality, God bless our men! There is a creed among some for their little women: wear dumpy and shapeless clothes that do not fit, because these won't be an occassion of sin; eyes cast downward, Eve! Don't spend that 50 cents on the holy card unless "Daddy" says you may; you needn't learn the FAITH on your own, there is no need: you can pick it up by osmosis from your husband. There's no need for college, hide in your home and practice domestic arts. I have seen and heard these things, if it can be believed. You know the wise priests of the past centuries rather knew (duh) it is mandatory for a mother of young children TO study, because though woman is naturally disposed to sacrifice and tedious chores and countless interruptions, the stress of this life demands something lofty she can wrap her mind around. That other above stuff is a perverted Protestant deal (no oiffense - it's certainly not Catholic!), not befitting the children of Jesus and Mary. Donna
Well, it's true. Think of all the rotten children Our Lady gave spiritual birth to.

Thy Geekdom Come
Raphael, can you explain your quote please ? Maybe Im just dumb ,what do wet dreams have to do with scrupulosity ? God Bless Ricky
Ummm...sure...there are a lot of teenage guys out there who don't feel confident in their sexuality yet and sometimes the overly scrupulous think that having a wet dream implies that they did something wrong or that it was somehow their fault that they "spilled their seed"...as if they could have chosen to dream about something else. I would bet it's similar to the number of children who wet the bed at later ages and feel like they aren't as good as other kids or even that they have done something wrong. Wetting the bed later in life actually has some correlative ties to depression. Eventually, the men who may have been scrupulous about their wet dreams will probably mature and realize that they don't have any control over it. My father wasn't really around too much when I was a kid...he worked, came home and had dinner, and then read the paper, watched sports, and went to bed. I love him, but my mother was the major influence in my life at that age. Over the last couple of years, however, I seem to have grown a lot closer to him and we are very alike in our personalities and mannerisms. He's a good man. I can't wait to be a father myself. I'm gonna love every minute of it.

yiannii
I am sick of women thinking that guys have it easy - we ALL have crosses to carry. Just because we don't carry the same crosses as you gals doesn't mean that we dont have any to carry at all. Guys simply don't complain as much....LOL.
