If that was the case then many kids would not be allowed admission based on a plethora of sins.
rachael Posted January 3, 2005 Posted January 3, 2005 i think that the boys should be allowed to stay.
spathariossa Posted January 3, 2005 Posted January 3, 2005 I just read this whole thing at the fark.com or something. It was linked from a debate thread. I'm proud of the superintendent for doing the right thing. The children should not be held responsible for the practices of their parents. In fact, it is our responsibility that those children be allowed to attend school there. Of course I wasn't shocked to see mindless anti-catholic comments being bandied about despite the fact that the Catholic institution was supporting the children.

Norseman82 Posted January 3, 2005 Posted January 3, 2005 If you ask me, this might be the only chance that the kids get to learn the truth. Of course, when they do learn the truth that their "daddy and daddy" are living in sin, then there is bound to be some friction at home.

Maybe through the boys the Lord will act on the hearts of their father and the other guy. The fact that the boys are going to a Catholic School could save them in the future from the same disorder. I think that the school needs to stress 'hate the sin not the sinner' to other parents and kids alike. I can understand the other parents concern. My kid would not be going over for a sleep over. I can understand why parents would not want their kids to even play with the boys. The parents shouldn't have to address this situation, but in this day and age, parents and the school need to address it and express how it is wrong and why it is wrong. They also need to stress to their children to pray for them. Another thing that needs to be covered is that it's not the boys fault and all of us and our parents are all sinners. As long as the school and parents will address the graveness of the sin and handle it properly as I mentioned above, then the kids should stay... if the school avoids addressing it, for the sake of the other children, the boys should not be allowed stay. God Bless, ironmonk

bookin'it Posted January 3, 2005 Posted January 3, 2005 All For the Glory of God! "Some parents have promised to ask the Vatican to intervene and some have threatened to pull their children from the school. " What happened to fostering the truth through charity? The above kind of attitude only fuels anti-Catholic sentiment instead of increasing unity. What are the parents so afraid of? "Others are worried the boys' attendance will set a precedent, saying their presence is part of a larger effort by the gay community to change the church." The Church will not change its stance - it is indefectible, indistructable.
picchick Posted January 3, 2005 Posted January 3, 2005 The boys should stay. It is not their fault that their parents are Gay and in sin. How many other children in that school have parents who are perhaps contracepting or divorced and remarried without an annulment. How many other parents go to Church every Sunday?
cmotherofpirl Posted January 3, 2005 Posted January 3, 2005 Sorry. I disagree. No its not the kids fault. But would you send your kid to a school where they taught all Catholics were going to hell? So why would you send your children to an institution that will teach your children what you are doing is a mortal sin and you will end up in hell? Why would you send your kids to a place and system that diametrically opposes your lifestyle?

Where in any Catholic teaching does it state that anyone "end up in Hell"? So you would not allow your child to attend a Catholic school that would admit that child? cmotherofpirl Posted January 3, 2005 Posted January 3, 2005 Yes I'm talking about the adults. Why do they want the children in catholic school?
hyperdulia again Posted January 3, 2005 Posted January 3, 2005 When Jon and I were active we still sent Ashley to Catholic school, because 1. I was Catholic 2. I didn't believe I was going to Hell and even if she grew up and believed I was , it was preferable to her growing up and hating Christ and the Church.

curtins Posted January 3, 2005 Posted January 3, 2005 cmotherofpirl- you have a good point idk i think the kids should stay but its weird that the parents are sending them to a Catholic school but hopefully the kids stay and then grow into the faith and learn about it and live it out etc and grow up to not be like their parents
picchick Posted January 3, 2005 Posted January 3, 2005 I agree that it is wierd that the parents are sending them to a Catholic school. Maybe they are trying to prove a point or maybe they are trying to stir up trouble. Either way, does that mean that the kids should not go?
Benedict Posted January 3, 2005 Posted January 3, 2005 Send them. I think it is a sign that at least one of the adults knows his lifestyle is wrong.
cmotherofpirl Posted January 4, 2005 Posted January 4, 2005 My kids would have to go to homeschooling then.
hyperdulia again Posted January 4, 2005 Posted January 4, 2005 (edited) Perhaps, they shouldn't send their children to any school, and perhaps they shouldn't go to mass, or pray...Lord knows I find it more than a little scandalous when I realize that the Dignity folk pray to the same God I do...and seperate restrooms, yes, yes....must have those...maybe it would be simpler if homosexuals were givn a state...Idaho, perhaps...
