spathariossa Posted January 5, 2005 Posted January 5, 2005
ah - let me clarify something, we were talking kindergarteners correct.? At that age they have to play at someones house. They would be able to come to my house and play, but my kids couldn't go there. My house has had an open door policy for over 20 years. But only works one way. There were many familes my kids weren't allowed to go. As many Pmers know I am already have one extra kid living in my house, and have had two others living here for various amounts of time. The only kids I have refused living space to were two actively homosexual boys who we reconciled to their families. They still come to visit and call me mom.
That's all I meant. I wasn't saying that your children should be forced to visit the house of a gay couple. I just meant that the 5 year olds aren't evil or wrong and shouldn't be treated as such. As in, the normal parents shouldn't tell their children not to play with them at school. I think allowing them to come over is wonderful and sympathetic.
littleflower+JMJ Posted January 5, 2005 Posted January 5, 2005 no cmom is right in many ways. school is a big factor and is something to question--as a parent and a mother that she is, i see her concern and its quite valid. its a matter of the welfare of your children.......as everything plays a part in such (which school they go to, their friends, etc.) one should't ignore details...... no one said the 5 year old were evil or wrong.... as for this whole catholic school thing, i would hope that if anyone were concerned about the children's faith and learning--that it would start with themselves, the parents/guardians...it always starts with whats happening at home. with the Catholic schools i went to, they made sure the parents were on the right page because then it makes the teaching at school many times useless and often times contradicts what they themselves are learning......which really shouldn't happen as especially young and being formed in the faith.. i grew up in Catholic schools....and boy do I remember it all lol
