Regardless of what your friend may say, it does not dispute what is in the Catechism.

You asked for quotes and Theoketos provided them.

Brother Adam

I am aware of that Carrie.

Teresa, the canon lawyer and Theoketos quotes of canon law do not disagree.
She liked 'generational' idea and thought it was ideal, but agreed there are exceptional circumstances when two people of an even wider age gap could get married.
I do not think that any one in arguing with the ideal, and it would be "gross" and a suspecious relationship, because it seems that there would be other motives besides the procreative and unitve aspect And a huge disparity of maturity. And so I think that is what you have a problem with Adam, is a lack of Mature Love.

So that is why a huge age range seems weird, maturity, not fertility.

(I think the ideal fits well into my formula Y/2 + 7 = X )

And Canon Law does provide for an age minimum to be set by the local ordinaries. So age does matter with in proper context.

Granted the 100 year old marrying a 16 year old is an extreme example, I don't think you can judge the quality of one's motives or love based on age diff. And motives besides procreative and unitive? I'm not buying that. Actually I'd see marrying a younger woman as being connected with this because a younger woman would likely have more child bearing years, and a younger woman would also be likely to have less relationship baggage which would help the unitive side.
You can't have a formula like that, it's silly. But I don't have a problem with people having a personal preference, but love is not as simple as a little math formula.

I'm only 16 so i would say at maximum for my age, 2 years, because at this stage in my life, if u go over a certain age, ur both at different stages of development

I totally agree. I think that this is, in a large part, what Carrie and Noel were talking about, and I agree with them, too. :luigi:

Well I spoke with a canon lawyer earlier today and posed this question.

If a 247 year old man wanted to be wed to a fetus in its second trimester, where would the Church stand on that?

He had no opinion on the matter.

I think my point has been proven beyond a shadow of a doubt.
