thessalonian Posted August 23, 2005 Posted August 23, 2005 What next? http://www.cnn.com/2005/WORLD/europe/08/23...reut/index.html How long must we endure Lord?
Era Might Posted August 23, 2005 Posted August 23, 2005 Cut her some slack. She got carried away. At least she realizes it.
Apathy Posted August 23, 2005 Posted August 23, 2005 Oh big deal. Get over it. Even I've seen worse things. Whatever.
Era Might Posted August 23, 2005 Posted August 23, 2005 btw, here's a picture of it: http://pdf.hln.be/hln/art/cache/pdf.html
Extra ecclesiam nulla salus Posted August 23, 2005 Posted August 23, 2005 disgusting 18 A good tree cannot bring forth evil fruit, neither can an evil tree bring forth good fruit.

What's the point of this? Are you saying the Catholic Church is not a good tree and this nun is the evidence? I sure hope not. That is silly. "There will be wolves among you"

Ya she realizes it all right. If this were the first time I would say you are correct but it is not. "I wouldn't do this at home but at such occasions I get carried away by the enthusiasm of the group," the 29-year-old told the paper later." Sounds like if she can't control herself on such occassions perhaps she should avoid them. Blessings
Fides_et_Ratio Posted August 23, 2005 Posted August 23, 2005 There's not really an excuse for getting carried away like that. She is a nun, and she has a reputation, and level of decorum that HAS to be maintained as is befitting her vocation. Such an action does not reflect highly on her, nor on other nuns. Nuns can dance and have a good time or whatever, but there is a limit to our actions--always. When we "get carried away" we are still held accountable for our actions.

St. Francis de Sales would have to disagree with you. In The Introduction to the Devout Life, he talks about how you shouldn't attend dances unless it is absolutely necessary, and then dance as little as possible. For a nun to dance in such a manner is scandalous. That said, the media really has to work to find stuff to hate about the Church.
Era Might Posted August 23, 2005 Posted August 23, 2005 Look, the lady is 29 years old. Nuns are human. Was it stupid? Sure. But it's not something to get all up in arms over. Her superior corrected her.
Era Might Posted August 23, 2005 Posted August 23, 2005 Oh give me a break, EENS. Stop straining at gnats.

Age is no excuse. If she's old enough to profess her vocation, than she is old enough to be held responsible (and she is)--no one is saying she should be punished more, our disappointment with her actions is understandable as it still reflects badly on others.

Extra ecclesiam nulla salus Posted August 23, 2005 Posted August 23, 2005 it was a joke like hahahahahaha : : :

I haven't asked for her removal or excommunication. It is just irritating as heck. I recall one time when my brother hit 18. They found him in a ditch, "uncouscious" and brought him in to the hospital. Said he was puking up blood when they called my parents in. It was starwberry slow gin. Do you think the family didn't have a right to be a bit angry with him. Do you think us kids were not a little embarrased by the whole situation and rightfully so. We didn't throw him out of the house over it but he needed to know the rest of the family didn't approve. In this case I am a part of her family and I don't approve of her lewd conduct. It is embarrassing for the Church all over the world in such a public event as WYD. Blessings
