swing dancing or not, as a sister in a habit, that particular move (jumping on a man) is probably not befitting a woman of her vocation...

it's just a bit scandalous, even if nothing more than dancing was meant by it.

That's what we've all said, that she shouldn't have done that particular move. But the words "dirty dancing" portray a totally different picture if one isn't looking at the actual picture of what's goin on.

2 Samuel 6:14-21 (NIV)
14 David, wearing a linen ephod, danced before the LORD with all his might, 15 while he and the entire house of Israel brought up the ark of the LORD with shouts and the sound of trumpets.

16 As the ark of the LORD was entering the City of David, Michal daughter of Saul watched from a window. And when she saw King David leaping and dancing before the LORD, she despised him in her heart.

17 They brought the ark of the LORD and set it in its place inside the tent that David had pitched for it, and David sacrificed burnt offerings and fellowship offerings [f] before the LORD. 18 After he had finished sacrificing the burnt offerings and fellowship offerings, he blessed the people in the name of the LORD Almighty. 19 Then he gave a loaf of bread, a cake of dates and a cake of raisins to each person in the whole crowd of Israelites, both men and women. And all the people went to their homes.

20 When David returned home to bless his household, Michal daughter of Saul came out to meet him and said, "How the king of Israel has distinguished himself today, disrobing in the sight of the slave girls of his servants as any vulgar fellow would!"

21 David said to Michal, "It was before the LORD, who chose me rather than your father or anyone from his house when he appointed me ruler over the LORD's people Israel—I will celebrate before the LORD. 22 I will become even more undignified than this, and I will be humiliated in my own eyes. But by these slave girls you spoke of, I will be held in honor."
my 2 cents. The media doesn't cover the good stuff at WYD but hey, they can catch one bad thing and print it all over the evening news.

Honestly, I was expecting alot worse, and the picture DOES look bad enough to raise a small scandal. However, I'm giving her the benefit of the doubt that it was swing dancing. I'm sure she's getting alot of heat from her fellow sisters at thier convent. She should have restrained herself from doing that particular move with a man, because it's not what you were actually doing that is the problem, but how people are interpreting it. But swing dancing, that move is common......but should we be suprised that the media would stoop so low? <_<

I'm sure she feels terrible.

And since she probably is swing dancing, they took the worst photo and twisted what really happened.

<_<
It's not a simple mistake.  It's multiple mistakes.  This is not a first offense.  It is just a first offense that was caught by the world, bringing scandal to the Church throughout the world.  Making the church a laughing stock.    This isn't a high school girl.  She's 29.

This doesnt bring scandel to the churhc like the sex abuse thing though. Not making the church a laughing stock. guess what, have you ever heard of a nun and a priest leaving the religious life and priesthood tog et married because they both fell in love with each other??? It happens alot!!!!! But that doesnt mean is brings scandelt o the Cahtolic church does it???? the main thing is that she leanred from mistake and who knows how much carp she is getting from those around her, think of how she must feel right now!!!!!!!!!!!! But just remember she's human too and humans make mistakes!!!!!!!

report I read said she wrapped her legs around the guy too...

I find that rather scandalous.

It seems to me that WYD isn't something I'd like to attend after all. I would probably end up punching the people who were making out. Then I wouldn't be able to receive Communion...

people on this thread are talking about kids making out during Mass. I was a little shocked. I guess I naively believe that only devout Catholic Youth went there. pretty stupid :(

Every thread turns into a debate here. We cant complain about anything without some phatmasser telling us to shut up. I'm not surprised the nun did this, ever since teh 60's even the church has been going down hill.

I dont say cut her some slack, i say cut her off from her ministry.

well, severely chastising her would probably be appropriate.

Nobody should excuse that behavior in a nun. for any reason.

And agian you said this is truning into a debate, whihc is true but i cant see why you all are seriously upset bythis!!!!! I find it as a mistake and cutting her some slack!!!! I dont agree she should be cut off from her religious community thought. the process of entering into a community, a religious order of women isnt easy to get in. You have to go through tons of testing both mentally and phyiscally!!!! And evidently she got in because she passed all the tests!!!!!!!!! But a small mistake like this shouldnt end in her community forceing her to leave, thats not right and it shows that the rleigious life of women is not a great thing to go inot if something liek that were to happen over a small mistake!!!!!!!!! I dont find anything wrong with it but I do hope she is careful fo what she is doing from now on. Did the reports ever say where this religious Sisters is from and what community????
