Is anyone else scared

I have just bought a house to be built this year...

I have a baby on the way...

Gas is now the equivalent of 3-4 bucks a gallon...

Is this going to collapse the economy? What about real estate prices? Interest rates?

I am really scared.

:ohno:

while it is supply thats driving gas prices up, its more production- with a different required forumla in some cases per city.

The rebuilding of New Orleans will do wonders for the Economy

The levels of prices at the pump is the highest ever, including the oil crisis of the 70s which caused the recession of the 80s. If the price maintains itself at this level for too long, a recession is a foregone conclusion.

However, the economy will not collapse (I believe). One of Osama BinLaden's goals in his efforts against the US was to force oil prices to 200$ per barrel. This means about three times what they are now. Such oil prices could possibly cause a collapse, but even then, it would be long shot.

Trust god, be careful with your spending, and brace yourself for some rough times, but with a little faith and a bit of courage, things will pull through.

(and the occasional prayer never hurts either)
1 word... Hybrid
I looked into the Honda Hybrid. For one with NO features AT ALL, it was financing at like $700/month!!!

A "normal" civic is about 20000 here, a hybrid is over 35000

I don't have enough money to buy a hybrid :idontknow: It just isn't an option for me.
They used to call him, still do call him 'Never Been Wrong'
Robertson. He has predicted every economic cycle, every
debacle, every bull market, and every bear market. Of course,
he's a very old man now. But his reputation on the Street is
like nothing you could imagine. When the segment of his
interview was through, his comments alone took the Dow Jones
down 50 points. Just on his comments alone. That's how
powerful this man's reputation is.

Insana then asks, "Where does it end?" And he said, "Utter
global collapse." Not simply economic collapse; complete
disintegration of all infrastructure and of all public
structures of governments. Utter, utter collapse. That the end
is collapse of simply epic proportion.

In 10 years time, he said, whoever is still alive on the
planet will be effectively starting again.
This guy is just another doomsdayer. It would take quite the effort to refute everything he touches, and unfortunately I don't have the time right now (maybe later).

I wouldn't buy into this too much, as soon as I see things like "huge detention centers to hold 50 million people" I know I am reading a hoplessly biased article that seeks to grasp attention and influence with fear.

Looking at the tendencies of the world economy for the last 5 years, it is obvious we are heading for worse before the better. Its very easy to come up with this kind of splurs. I say get ready for a tough time, but not the apocalypse.

though the apocalypse would be kinda cool to see though....

I've seen a lot more people driving the Toyota Prius now. It's the best Hybrid car on the market right now. My brother bought one and says it's the best car he's ever owned. What is the plural form of Prius? Prii? Priuses?

Sounds to me like the comments of someone who is frustrated by his/her own money losses that might have been incurred by robertson? You think?

Robertson is correct of some part: the mortgage bubble of the US is getting very dangerous and would cause a serious recession if it burst. But if that will or will not happen is debatable.

If I had 1.5 billion$ in assets, I don't think I would be working to get more money as hard as he does... lol

Luke 12

[25] And which of you by being anxious can add a cubit to his span of life?
[26] If then you are not able to do as small a thing as that, why are you anxious about the rest?
[27] Consider the lilies, how they grow; they neither toil nor spin; yet I tell you, even Solomon in all his glory was not arrayed like one of these.
[28] But if God so clothes the grass which is alive in the field today and tomorrow is thrown into the oven, how much more will he clothe you, O men of little faith!
[29] And do not seek what you are to eat and what you are to drink, nor be of anxious mind.
[30] For all the nations of the world seek these things; and your Father knows that you need them.
[31] Instead, seek his kingdom, and these things shall be yours as well.
[32] "Fear not, little flock, for it is your Father's good pleasure to give you the kingdom.
