I would like to start providing consistent original content on the site from phatmassers. Priests, seminarians, lay people, etc. The only requirement is that you have to know what you're talking about, be orthodox, and somewhat of an entertaining writer.

This will only work if I can get at least 10 people committed to providing content on a consistent basis.

The format will be similar to a blog.

The long term goal is to establish a magazine, but this is far into the future.

Not only will this content be available from phatmass, but also to any other website that would like to provide it from their website, as it will be turned into an RSS feed.

Please let me know if you can commit. If not enough people show interest, I'll have to table this idea until later.

I'm very interested in Catholic journalism and would love to write articles for anything that could help the faithful.

Depending on the topic, I could be interested. I know a little about a lot of stuff.

Yep.....I'll do it....email me and let me know what you want. Obviously, I would be most interested in Liturgical matters, but I can speak about several other topics as well.

dude........i am very interested. I am not the most knowledgable person about things but i can take a small portion of the load and dedicate it to things that i know a little about........sports and the issue of homosexuality. I think it would be good to have a section on homosexuality since i believe that it is a major issue in the world today. Since i struggle with the issue i can provide an insite on things and i would be glad to submit my writings for proof reading (so catholics can determine whether or not it falls in line with the church teachings and such). I will use the catechism as much as i can, since i have a copy,......to reiderate what the church teaches on the matter. Please tell me you will consider having me involved on this project. I have an interest in writing. One day i hope to conquer my issue and help others struggling as well. If and when i go back to school i would persue my interest in becoming a counselor to do so.

I haven't proven myself here on phatmass just yet, but I would love to write on Catholic books and movies, as well as review secular books and movies from a magisterial perspective. I'm double-majoring in Philosophy and English w/ a Writing Emphasis at the University of St. Thomas in St. Paul, MN, so this is often where my brain is. I promise in advance that I won't pull a Roger Ebert and give Anaconda a good review.

I'm able to commit, if you would like me to do so. I'd be more apt for philosophy/theology, but I am malleable.

I'm in, I will be writing periodic articles anyway for our college newspaper. I would love to share my work here as well as with our student body. I am very flexable for content, but am willing to do the reasurch needed for a grade A article.

God bless-

All of these topics sound awesome, and all are welcome. This would be a shared column, so not limited to one topic. In fact, you can write about anything you like, as long as you can relate it to the faith. Of course, orthodoxy will be demanded as you all will be representing phatmass.

Here's an example of the basic concept:

There's no rhyme or reason as far as topics go, and one writer may be more prominent than others (it all depends on how much you write). If one writer completely dominates the content I may ask him/her to space their posts out a litte more, but that's about it. I figure if we have about 10 writers posting once every one to two weeks, we'll have fresh content almost every day.

That's a great idea, Micah. I know my faith definitely has an impact on how I view exercise.

I could commit, if needed. I don't know how entertaining of a writer I am, but I'd be willing to work on it.

Is it gonna be an actual separate blog or hosted on Phatmass?

Two questions:
1) Since you're wanting to be sure that we're all orthodox in what we right, is there going to be some sort of review before posts are put up?

2) Do you have a word count range you'd like posts to fall into? Like between 200 and 400 words or something? I'd imagine you wouldn't want posts to get too long, but that's just a guess.

envoy has the best advertisements for their magazine... they are hilarious! (ex. see the "a hunk a hunk of burnin' love for the Church" banner...)

I'd be interested. I could write movie or literary reviews, op-ed time collumns or the like. We could discuss what is wanted/needed.
