sweetpea316 Posted November 14, 2005 Posted November 14, 2005 Oooooh! I love this thread!! I'm such a sucker for romance...
philothea Posted November 14, 2005 Posted November 14, 2005 I think my signature is awfully romantic. In kind of an ouchy way... :
missionseeker Posted November 14, 2005 Posted November 14, 2005 I, for smoe odd reason, thought of this thread during the first reading.

BEAUTIFUL...at the "many waters" part, there is this effect of an ebb and flow that makes you think of water. So pretty. Anyway...I'm quite sappy too. I'm always a sucker for a good romantic movie.

scardella Posted November 14, 2005 Posted November 14, 2005 (edited) I think I'm a closet hopeless romantic. I just have a ruthless logical emotionless facade, sort of like an M&M w/ a hard candy shell. Edited November 14, 2005 by scardella

Not really. Though the publishers have been shifting toward lots of explicit content in the last few years. Still, most women read romance for the relationship. "Erotica" is female porn.
Proud2BCatholic139 Posted November 14, 2005 Posted November 14, 2005 Even in some teenage books, it has gotten pretty explicit when it comes to innuendoes.
jiyoung Posted November 14, 2005 Posted November 14, 2005 Yeah, it has. By the way, don't read the latest Princess Diaries, or let your children read it...it's basically all about whether she should have sex with her college-aged boyfriend. She's, what, 15, 16? Gah! Meg Cabot's other book is all about that too, but it is far more explicit...I got disgusted and stopped reading it. (why was I reading it in the first place? uh...) I'm a romantic at heart but kinda bitter...well not so much bitter. I'm sort of pessimistic though. Never met a man to soften me either. ah, well...
Proud2BCatholic139 Posted November 14, 2005 Posted November 14, 2005 What book was that? The third one?
jiyoung Posted November 14, 2005 Posted November 14, 2005 I don't remember which installment it is...whatever the latest one is, I think maybe the 5th or 6th? And the other one she wrote would be the sequel to All-American Girl. An example from the PD book: "Of course I want to have sex with you, but not yet--in a couple years maybe." "Of COURSE we'll use condoms, I'm not stupid..." Etc. etc. Brainwashing like this is what made me think Planned Parenthood must be okay if they were passing out condoms when I was younger. Don't let your kids read this...
