To put it somewhat delicately: I suggest that our brother may not be entirely culpable for the offensive nature of his postings. Mr. Lowell, if you happen to read this, please see a counsellor. Or, for starters, print out this thread and the "homosexuals in the priesthood" thread to which you refer. Take them to your local parish priest, or someone who is not a friend or family member, and get their reaction. For the rest of us, let's not make fun of him or get too offended. I've looked into FTC remedies both for what's been happening here over the last several days and, evidently, even more intensely so in the last hour. Unfortunately, its doubtful that the FTC can be of much help to me so a complaint there will not be pursued after all. Other, far more promising avenues would seem available, however, and, if I find them to have merit, they'll be taken. Stay tuned. John Lowell

If I cannot file a complaint to anyone about the disgusting and offending pornography websites that degrade women and not to mention corrupt people's souls, nor get websites shut down that teach countless innocent youth how to masturbate and that looking at pornography is okay, I fail to see how anyone will listen to a complaint about uncharitableness on a web forum. This place looked like one big GOP rally for months before the 2004 election, and Phatmass is supposed to be a non-profit organization.

There's porn on other websites not to mention things ten times worse. What more, this place is where this type of hootin' and hollerin's suppose to take place. Probably at least one reason all those websites can exist, why they should be able to, and why this one should and will persist, is because anyone has the option to just leave if they don't like something. If he's upset at his name being slandered, maybe he should have thought twice before posting his screen name as his real name. Not that he was slandered, as any court would recognize. Maybe he's just having a good time or someone's posing, upset about something in the past. Plus Soc is right that you don't go into a thread and hijack it. Maybe he should be pursued. I say call him on his bluff. Don't give in, and I'd even call him out and have him prove himself to exist and be genuine, not a lame prankster, which I think he is. It's just a happy coincidence that there happens to be another disgruntled Catholic here who hasn't either left in frustration or been suspended yet. If you don't believe me, I think dUSt can check our IP addresses (which, in my case, he might want to think about blocking...) and see that we're not the same person. I only came back to insult the pope following the release of the perfidious document today. I have no intention of sticking around, I'm sure I'll be promptly suspended.

It says that men with "deep-seated homosexual tendencies" cannot be ordained, and both the document itself and the Catechism make clear that men with "deep-seated homosexual tendencies" are those who have a homosexual orientation, regardless of their behavior. The document bans all homosexual men from being ordained. How it will be interpreted is a different story. But what it says is crystal clear.
