philothea
I was totally unaware that "modest" was a particular style of clothing. Though... heck if I didn't used to dress that way! All Laura Ashley dresses (back when those were princess seamed, floral, with lace collars). Jumpers and turtlenecks for casual. Long full skirts (home made) with simple blouses. I made a lot of vintage clothing too... Then I moved out to the middle of nowhere and started working at home. It's really not worth it to dress up so I can sit at a computer desk by myself. homeschoolmom
I have to say, though, that buying clothes for my 9 year old daughter is challanging at times-- especially shoes. There's no need for her to dress like a teenager yet!
franciscanheart
i have to agree with.... was it carrie?... i find PLENTY of clothes at "normal" stores that are perfectly modest. you can walk into american eagle and find some absolutely adorable skirts and often for a reasonable price. i can also walk into foleys and find something i like. i really like ann taylor, banana republic, and the like. they sell modest and classy looking clothing. theres also a store called white house black market that i like a lot. there arent any stores in particular that advertise for modesty or sell all modest clothing. it must be up to the girl to find things that are classy and to dress modestly and to portray that person at all times. seriously, no store is going to do it for you. there isnt a nice little package. its a nice thought... but it doesnt exist. To make sure I dont show anything I go through different positions, such as squating and sitting. It's very effective.
