"Three Days of Darkness
ok, just reading this, while I've heard of the prophesies, I haven't really looked at them.
all the hype over apocalypic prophesy can be brought back to reason with one fact:  your life may be required tonight, so why worry about (insert prophesy here).  Now is all we have, as socrates has noted.

chris

btw

These three days sound like nuclear war.
all it would take is one desprate man (with a nuke), and we have several desparate nations with nukes.  It will probably happen.  in our lifetimes? In the next century or two? who knows?

I have been hearing a lot about "Old Faithful" blowing (it's basically a volcano in waiting) and if it does it will be able to darken the sky all over the world.

Also the right size asteroid hit the ocean it would also make it happen.

I've heard about this prophecy in connection with the supernatural events at Garabandal, I watched a video about it years back which freaked me out (did anyone else see it? the kids walking backwards at superspeed, the host just appearing in their mouths, etc?). The message that stuck in my mind was that we will receive the warning first, and see our soul as God sees it, and our fear will be in proportion to our guilt. As long as we're good Catholics, we shouldn't have any fears, or worries. :saint:

well, I definitely need to stock up on blessed candles...
"Garabandal" magazine claims the Church looks favorably on the apparition, quoting from a letter that allegedly indicates the Pope "favors propagation of the Garabandal events." It actually appears that the letter, said to be signed by the Pope's secretary, was a perfunctory thanks for a book sent to the Vatican by the German businessman to whom the letter was addressed.

In any case, what the magazine does not mention is that successive bishops of Santander, the diocese in which Garabandal is located, have condemned the apparition. I know that some Catholics--perhaps including some readers of this E-Letter--will discount those condemnations, saying that we all should know by now how error-prone bishops can be: Just look at the mess in our own country!

There's no need to argue with such folks because the internal logic of the apparition will settle things in its own way.

One of the locutions received by the children included the prediction that there would be only three more popes until "the end of the times." The pope when that prediction was made was John XXIII. Then came Paul VI and John Paul I. Now we have John Paul II, who, being John XXIII's third successor, is therefore the last pope.

A further locution told the children that John Paul II would live to see the miracle. The present Holy Father, as we all know, is frail and ailing. While he might live another decade, he might be called home at any time. Most of us will outlive him, which means we will be able to know with certainty whether the warning and the miracle occurred during his reign and whether he turned out to be the last pope.

Although there are more than a dozen Indian casinos within easy driving distance of my home, I do not visit them. I have no interest in gambling. By the time I put the fourth quarter into a slot machine, I'm bored. I can think of smarter and more enjoyable ways to lose money.

But I am tempted to lay a wager, with anyone who might wish to take me up on it, that there will be another conclave of cardinals and that from it another pope will emerge. I do not worry about losing this bet because I have every confidence that Garabandal is a false apparition.

If a new pope is elected, that will put the lie to the apparition's claims. This will doubly be the case if the promised warning and miracle do not arrive during the current pontificate.

Ok... Looks like Garabandal is a dead issue.

That's the story I heard. I never knew the 3 days of darkness were connected to other saints. I saw the movie, and it scared the heck out of me, too. When the Blessed Mother appears, she is always gentle and peaceful....that movie seemed like the complete opposite. I never gave it a second thought after seeing it.

So, there's going to be 3 days of darkness and anyone outside will die? Is this the prophecy given to saints? I'm trying to not confuse Garabandal with the true story.
Personally, I think it's a waste of time to get all hyped up about this.  We should try to live lives of holiness and live each day as if it were our last, rather than worrying about staying indoors and stocking up on sacred candles.

I agree with Socrates, When people I know start to get afraid of the "END of the WORLD" & what not, I always say,"If I get hit by a car tomorrow & die, it will be the end of the world for me...If the world ends tomorrow, it will still be the end of the world for me... :funeral: :ascension: " I'm aiming for Heaven, Purgatory just means we're halfway home... :D: Brandelyn

Who says that anyone of the poeple who 'die instantly' etc are doomed to hell in this story? i dont see why we should asume that the "poor people in the streets with no home" are doomed.

They're not necessarily damned, just dead.

However, personally, I think I'd rather quickly perish in darkness, that live to face the post-apocalyptic devastation that must await those who crawl out of their houses after the three days spent indoors with holy candles and the shades drawn tight!
(Remember, no peaking out the window, or you die!!!)

wow, definitely my first time hearing about this.

does anyone have any recent documentation from the Vatican on this stuff?

maybe we should take a poll... who believes in this? will it happen in our lifetime?

or maybe we should just keep on keepin on. :idontknow:

You're not required to believe in private revelations.
