phatcatholic Posted September 4, 2006 Posted September 4, 2006 yup, the FBC isn't dead afterall. if you ever wanted to know more about it, but i never contacted you, this post should answer all of your questions. if after reading this, you would like to be a member of the FBC, please post in this thread and let me know. if you are currently a member, post in here and let me know whether or not you wish to remain a member. here's what the FBC is all about: the FBC is an organized effort by phatmass to explain and defend the faith on protestant forums. there are four groups right now. each one has a group leader that is in charge of the strategic approach of the group, for answering questions from his group members, and for maintaining charity. each group also has a prayer warrior that prays unceasingly for the group to which he is assigned. in the past we had floaters who would go from forum to forum and help out wherever they are needed, but i think i'm going to get rid of them. finally, we have a "chapel" in the FBC board where prayer warriors and group members can post prayers for their group. the FBC is an excellent experience for anyone who wants practice defending the faith. for one, you're not alone. there is always someone there to help you. and of course, you will learn more about your faith in the process. this should also aid your prayer life, since prayer is so essential to what we are doing. i'm resigning as the director of this endeavor. Era Might will be the new man in charge. i trust in his abilities, and i will be helping him whenever i can, perhaps as a "vice-president" of sorts. the positions available are: --group leader --crusader --prayer warrior when you post, please let me know which position you are applying for. also, give me some idea of your level of knowledge about catholicism and your experience defending your faith and engaging in dialogue with others. note that not everyone who applies will be accepted. if you are rejected, it will not be b/c of your lack of knowledge or experience but b/c you hold some heretical doctrine or b/c your apologetical approach is consistently uncharitable. everyone will be informed via pm regarding the next step in the process as soon as decisions are made about the makeup of each group and the forum assignments for each group. if anyone has any questions, you can post them in this thread as well. pax christi, phatcatholic
DAF Posted September 4, 2006 Posted September 4, 2006 I would very much enjoy being apart of the FBC. I reverted to the Faith about 2 years ago and I've been defending the Faith ever since! One of my favorite past times is apologetics. --> Catholicism and Fundamentalism by Karl Keating is one of my favorite books of all time. I think I would be of most use as a crusader, but I'd be willign to do whatever. in Christ, Mason
prose Posted September 4, 2006 Posted September 4, 2006 Sweet! I would love to be involved. I think this is a great idea. I know our faith pretty well, and can defend if needed (I am currently enrolled in courses for my M.Div.), but I would prefer to give my time as a prayer warrior. I will start asap.
Noel's angel Posted September 4, 2006 Posted September 4, 2006 I'd love to devote my time as a prayer warrior. I think my prayers are more powerful that my apologetics.
rkwright Posted September 4, 2006 Posted September 4, 2006 (edited) I would love to give it a shot! I'm on the leadership of our apologetics group at school, but I'd feel most comfortable as a prayer warrior helping out on the apologetics when I get a chance! Edited September 4, 2006 by rkwright
let_go_let_God Posted September 4, 2006 Posted September 4, 2006 I would like to help. I would like to apply to be a crusader, but I would also like to aid with prayer. I have been Catholic all of my life and helped teach Catechism and Catholic beliefs to students from elementary through college; this being my sixth year. This year I am one of four people in charge of our Catholic group on campus teaching and defending the Catholic faith. God bless- LGLG
adsdrummer Posted September 4, 2006 Posted September 4, 2006 i'd like to be a crusader as well if possible.. i would go for group leader, but i dont have much experience at that, but for crusader, on the LifeTeen forum, i regularly helped defend the Faith and such. i think i have a good strong knowledge of the Faith. i dont hesitate to look things up if im unsure though. i look forward to this!(even if i dont get picked)
fearundercontrol Posted September 4, 2006 Posted September 4, 2006 (edited)
I'd love to devote my time as a prayer warrior. I think my prayers are more powerful that my apologetics.
Same here! I've been told that my prayers are very powerful, but when it comes to apologetics, I always get tongue-tied despite everything I know. So I'm better off sticking to prayer and directing people places. Ready to pray if you need me. Edited September 5, 2006 by fearundercontrol

N/A Gone Posted September 5, 2006 Posted September 5, 2006 Nick....you know me..you know what I bring I would feel it an honor to be part of the Crusade
bball33 Posted September 5, 2006 Posted September 5, 2006 I would love to help. I figure I would be able to help best as a crusader. I have debated on the lifeteen.com forums for over a year, taken a course in apologetics in high school, and have also been living in the middle of the Bible belt (alabama is about 90% protestant) for the past 6 years. Just let me know.
jswranch Posted September 5, 2006 Posted September 5, 2006 Sign me up as a crusader or a prayer guy. Perhaps you may wish to select one or two group leaders who then select their own team, based on your approval.
MIKolbe Posted September 5, 2006 Posted September 5, 2006 I would love to join as well. I will fulfill any position you need. JMJ, Kolbe
Tindomiel Posted September 5, 2006 Posted September 5, 2006 (edited) I was a crusader, and I still go on the forum to which I was assigned occasionally, but my group died within a couple of weeks. I later found that the thread for our group on phatmass had been deleted.... Could I possibly be assigned to a new one? Edited September 5, 2006 by Tindomiel
brandelynmarie Posted September 5, 2006 Posted September 5, 2006 Ooooooohhhhhh! I have been going crazy with trying to figure out what the FBC was about!!!!!!!! If it would help, I would love to be a prayer warrior for a group...Please let me know how I can help....Brandelyn
thessalonian Posted September 5, 2006 Posted September 5, 2006 (edited) Reinforcements? Or was I supposed to stop crusading? One crusade lives on. CHARGE! Blessings Thessings Edited September 5, 2006 by thessalonian
Fides_et_Ratio Posted September 5, 2006 Posted September 5, 2006 Thess... you are awesome. Phat, I'd love to help, but I'm afraid of committing and then running out of time. I haven't started my PSR classes yet, so who knows how crazy things will get once the semester really starts up. I just tend to get glued to debates and then post rather than doing my homework (which is not good). Maybe I could just jump in when someone really needs a hand?
heavenseeker Posted September 6, 2006 Posted September 6, 2006 I was starting to wonder what the deal was. I would have to say --crusader!
