JuCa Posted February 26, 2004 Posted February 26, 2004 Actually, it's all wrong. It's coke. Texas waitress: "Would you like a coke with that?" Yankee Customer: "Sure" (uncomfortable silence) Texas waitress: "Okay, what kind?" Exactly! It's.........COKE!
Thomas Michael Posted February 26, 2004 Posted February 26, 2004 coke is a biased term because it only refers to one brand of SODA. Well, sometimes in some places people just adopt one brand name to describe a certain product, no matter what the actual brand is. Same goes for Kleenex, Q-Tips, Band-Aids, Rollerblades and Jacuzzis.

homeschoolmom Posted February 26, 2004 Posted February 26, 2004 Growing up in Minnesota, it was pop! When I went to college in Wisconsin, my Milwaulkee friends got me hooked on saying soda (as well as bubbler, but that's a different story). So, even now I say soda... but I am among the few in this area. (Even the thought of a soda is making my tummy growl!!)
Lil Red Posted February 26, 2004 Posted February 26, 2004 If you called it coke in the midwest, you'd get exactly that-coke. You see, it is pop, and always will be. POP!!!!!!! :P
Petrus Posted February 26, 2004 Posted February 26, 2004 Let us consider objective truth... In the Natural Moral Law, God tells us certain standards of behavior. If these are not met, then it is called "evil." However, the good always will prevail. Therefore, pop is evil, becuase soda is winning in the poll!!!

Thomas Michael Posted February 26, 2004 Posted February 26, 2004 It's soda here in wisconsin Really? I went to Minnesota and Iowa a few years ago, and it was referred to as "pop" at all the convenience and grocery stores I went to. I drove into one town in Wisconsin (Prairie Du Chien), but didn't ask for any soda there, so you could be right.
