ahh I missed it! I wanted to get arrested too. srsly :). Would've been fun. I'm like a half a block from there too. I didn't find out where you all would be so I didn't make it. oh well. peace
there will be another opportunity...
Well isn't that what they wanted, attention? I mean, what's the point of blocking the entrance to the DNC and getting arrested for it unless some media pick it up and cover it?

And, while I agree that the Democrats have every right to meet, I applaud them for what they did. I mean, since this was a pro-life rally, I'd assume that they'd be protesting the pro-choice stance of Obama and other Democratic Party leaders. It seems to me like they were trying to make their presence known and message known, and they accomplished this goal.
yep.
Seriously though, it wasn't about not letting people get in, that's obvious. People got in anyway, that wasn't the point.
The point is taking a stand and bringing awareness.
yep.
They are protesting again!
love the new av, T!

yes - we disrupted the women's caucus yesterday - that was actually harder than the sit-in - the evil i sensed in the women's caucus ballroom is something i won't forget - we surprised the rich liberal women so much, they were speechless for a few seconds before they erupted in anger and hatred.

story by Life News

Again, since we are dealing with a pro-choice-dominated media, what hit the wires has a different slant (i won't post any of those links, since they have my name... :ninja: )

----
i won't apologize for any of my political actions these past four days - i am more ticked off about the millions of babies being killed than politeness toward the DNC. Yes, the DNC has a right to gather - obviously. However, i personally could not stand silently by while a party that continues to support genocide met in my state to support a presidential candidate whose anti-life record need not be discussed in open mic.

i have had people constantly screaming at me because we struck a nerve; i personally think that is a good thing - as i repeatedly said on the bullhorn, "Please, my sisters, wake up!"

i have also had two women come up to me crying because their hearts had been opened, and to me, that was worth 10 hours in jail, a headache, and a pile of work to catch up on this weekend.

Peace in Christ,
-fides
Ok. I have to say that I agree with Kujo on this. I amend my previous statement. To be honest, I thought this at first, but was too cowardly to post this the first time.

The law states that one may not obstruct another's right to gather. This law is in place to protect everyones' First Amendment rights. This law was just. The action did not defy abortion; it defied the First Amendment.

That the action had little effect is immaterial; they still broke a just law.

Yes, however, one cannot do a bad in order to accomplish a good. The law that they broke had nothing to do with abortion, but everything to do with protesting the Democrats' right to assemble. To obstruct this right is breaking one of America's most sacrosanct freedoms, if not the most.

The intended indirect effect, to protest abortion, is good. However, according to the principle of double effect, one cannot perform a bad action in order to cause a good to occur.

Blessings,
Kris
I agree. I don't really see why phatmassers are so enthusiastic about this particular protest (no offense intended to those involved)... It seems to me that it was illegal, wrong, and accomplished little. It is not unjust for the police to ask citizens to move out of the way of a public gathering.

If it had been an abortion clinic, that would have been a little different. But it wasn't.

you don't have to apologize. most of us here stand right beside you! You don't need to explain why you did what you did. I don't see anything wrong with the actions you and the other pro-lifers did to protest and get the attention you needed for the timeless message you had to offer...

I'm proud of you, sister!

I don't agree with the democrats but they have the right to gather. I'd be ticked off if someone blocked my church or an entrance to the vatican or whatever.
Going into the Vatican or your church wouldn't be killing anyone. It's different with abortion.

I would think that if even one baby's life was saved, it was worth it, and I think the protesters would agree. And as FQI said, they touched at least 2 women.

illegal: yes, that's why we were arrested. ;)

wrong: well, my boss (an orthodox Roman Catholic priest who knows way more about canon law and Church teaching than i do) said we did nothing against Church teaching and supports me fully. Thanks, though. :)

accomplished little: How are you measuring that? i don't expect to know what it did or did not accomplish until heaven. Even if only one heart was reached, it was worth it to me. i would do it again - in fact, i plan to.
