Didacus Posted November 18, 2008 Posted November 18, 2008 The canadien gun registry is at its best a source of mockery and a picture perfect of futile exercise of government.
Exactly--there's no reason to ask, unless it would affect employment.

All of my part-time jobs have been rewarded to me because my father is the king of some foreign country. It's paternalism, but it works. ....JOKES! Of course I have applied for a job, you sarcastic punk.
Lil Red Posted November 18, 2008 Posted November 18, 2008 +J.M.J.+ well, we already knew that Obama doesn't particularly care for the 2nd amendment.
missionseeker Posted November 18, 2008 Posted November 18, 2008 I've used a gun to protect myself and my family. Snakes, armadillos, ect. (armadillos may seem like "Wha" but... we're a farming family, if a critter eats the crops... ) My dad had to shoot a random stray cat that bit my sister so that it could be tested for rabies. I live on almost 40 acres of wooded lands. We see foxes, coyotes, raccoons, opossums, ect. on a regular basis. It would be dumb for me to know how to work a gun. (and... I'd so put that on a questionnaire...)

We have that whole "not wanting to rip babies from their mother's womb" thing going against us.

rkwright Posted November 18, 2008 Posted November 18, 2008 Trying to remember here... but gun owners are not a 'protected class'. I believe the government can discriminate against gun owners without any problem.

I understand that it could potentially be dangerous, but really, most guns are never used to harm another human.

Gun-owners, as well mullet-wearers, taco-eaters, vegetarians, shoe-lace enthusiasts and competitive hot dog eaters are NOT protected groups entitled to special shields against discrimination. But, again, I really don't think it's going to be used as a way to weed out gun owners, but more of a census type thing.
The government cannot make a law preventing you from doing so SO LONG AS practicing your religion does not infringe on the fundamental rights of others. Now, the case can be made that some people, while rocking the mullet and eating a taco, might be offended and jealous of your awesome hairdo and impeccable taste in snackage. But now matter...we are not guaranteed a life without being offended.
