Though honestly I do believe Ms. Meyer is far too much of a flake (ditz, blonde whatever word you want to use) to do much intentional harm. I liked it as a fun story, though it was poorly written for some reason it did captivate me. It did have some particularly disturbing parts, but again I would never honestly give Ms. Meyer the credit of being genuinely smart enough to deliberately put this in on purpose. It's a poorly written, interesting story that in my opinion does far more harm to genuine vampire mythology than it would do to one's soul, especially when compared to most other stories one is bound to read if one is interested in this series. I think that her, and these books, are purely the product of our times, so rather than a move against Catholicism and faith, these books in a sense reflect our culture's attitudes which are slowly moving against us. I have to admit though, that Rosary scene really does make me wonder, even to this day, if Meyer was not trying to say something. A father’s son and his two friends approached him. The young son asked his father if he and his friends could go watch a movie. He didn’t know the name of the movie but he knew it was rated PG-13. The father knew that the movie wasn’t appropriate for his son to watch. So he told his son that he couldn’t watch the movie with his friends. The son told his father that it was ok to watch the movie because it was rated PG-13. The father said that he knew it was rated PG-13, but didn’t want his son to watch it because there were some graphic elements. The son responded by saying that the movie only had a few short scenes that were graphic and it wasn’t really a big deal. The father remained firm still saying, “[i]No[/i].” A few minutes later, the father went and made brownies. He mixed together the flour, chocolate, etc.. The boys noticed the father making brownies. One of them remarked, “[i]Maybe your father feels sorry for saying no and is making up for it by making brownies[/i].” The father finished baking the brownies, cut it up into pieces, and brought them to the boys. The boys were all excited to eat the brownies. The father told them to hold on a second. He said, “[i]I’ve made these brownies with chocolate, flour, and other ingredients. Also, I did go outside and get a little bit…only a little bit…of dog mess. It wasn’t much. I put it in the brownie mix.[/i]” The boys responded, “[i]Gross! You put dog mess in the brownie mix! Gross! We don’t want to eat it now[/i].” Even with just a little bit of dog mess, they didn’t want to eat the brownies. Even with all the explanations of the perfect attributes of the brownies, the kids would not take one. The father acted surprised. There was only a small amount of mess, so what could the problem be? He assured them that they would hardly notice it at all. But they all held firm and would not try the brownies. He then explained that the movie they wanted to see was just like the brownies. Satan tries to enter our minds and our homes by deceiving us into believing that just a little bit of evil doesn't matter. With the brownies, just a little bit makes all the difference between a great brownie something really gross. He explained that even though the smallest amount of dog mess makes the brownie totally unacceptable, they seemed to having no problem watching a movie of similar ingredients. The people who make movies and TV shows would have us believe their entertainment is acceptable for adults and youths; but they are no more so than dog mess brownies are good to eat!
