Or did we also have it on the single guilder? I don't remember Anyway, the Euro coins were made for quick identification by blind people, so all rims had to be different... homeschoolmom Posted August 1, 2009 Share Posted August 1, 2009 I was reading up on the dollar coin recently and I learned that vending machines were the prime motivation for the reintroduction of the dollar coin. (Did you know that the Susan B. Anthony dollar was restruck in 1999 because there was a need for them and the 2000 Sacagawea coins were not ready yet? I didn't.) Because technology in vending machines advanced to the point that they could accept bigger bills, they required a large supply of dollar coins to issue as change. That's why the Susan B.
