Sisters of St. Francis of Perpetual adoration

Hey folkies, I just had to check out the rapping nuns to see what they are all about. I am just wondering has anyone contacted these sisters? They seemed really cool, I actually got up the courage to call them. I talked to Sr. Lois who ran down what their life is like and formation and when their next retreat is. More Ssvm News

Just thought I'd share some more profession/clothing news from the SSVMs, all happening on the Solemnity of the Immaculate Conception: 9 Novices will receive the habit and religious names 2 Novices will profess First Vows (The SSVMs become novices about a month or so prior to receiving the habit and their religious names. I'm not sure why.) On October 24th, 11 Novices (including a good friend of mine) professed first vows. It's interesting how the clothing/vows work for these sisters. It is, in some ways, very individualized for each sister. Special care is taken to make sure each sister is ready for that next step. So that is why you see a few different…

Praise be Jesus Christ now and forever Amen. Many thanks to the blessed mother on to day her high Feast Day. I found out today and it was made official today on Our Lady's feat of the Assumption that I was accepted to Ave Maria CollegePre-Theologate Program. And to those who don't know it's like a small seminary on mixed sex campus. So I have much to give thanks for to our Lady but especially Our Lord. So Just thought I'd share the news!!!!! Hi ya'll! So last night at Our Lady of Hope, I was volunteering like on every regular Tuesday and all of us kids got into a really looonnnggg conversation with Sr. Joan, who is administrator and vocation director for our home. Well, it really wasn't a conversation since a lot of what she said to my friend and I was, "You have the heart of a Little Sister" and, "Your gonna be Little Sisters." Yeah, we've heard it before. I figured while we were talking I might as well bring up me going to the home in Queens. I brought that up and for the first time I got Sr. Joan to seriously say that she will get me down to Queens for Profession and she will see if…

Calling & Visiting Orders During Lent
by Chiquitunga- 11 replies

Hey guys, I forgot whether this was true or not, but is it generally that a lot of orders don't allow, or at least not very much, visitors to come and discern during Lent? - particularly cloisters, I'm asking about. I don't remember very well if this is true or not. I was making a lot of visits last, back in Winter 2002. I stopped just before Lent of 03. I remember Mother Miriam at Buffalo said I definitely couldn't enter during Lent. So I remember this time of waiting. I'll ask the particular places myself, but just wondered if any of you knew anything about whether it is more limited, in visiting cloisters, during Lent. Thanks!

Both are already approved by their bishops. I'm familiar with the one in the diocese of Youngstown, Ohio. I'm not sure if the one in Columbia is active or contemplative.
