IgnatiusofLoyola Posted April 29, 2010 Posted April 29, 2010 (edited) Funny, stats is just about the only kind of math that I can understand. When you start getting into the abstract stuff, my head spins. At least with statistics, it has a use. It helps you do research and understand the results of other research. Of course, statistics can get pretty abstract, too, but I never had to take more than one course. It was useful, but one course was plenty. Edited April 29, 2010 by IgnatiusofLoyola

The trouble is doing it. It's my own fault though- I didn't give it the time it required this semester. I'll do better next time.

It makes use of numerous formulas and problem solving, but its fundamental basis in a science (chemistry) means that it remains a proper science rather than math. Same can be said about most branches of physics, many types of astronomy, and the entirety actuarial science.
ardillacid Posted April 29, 2010 Posted April 29, 2010 Statistics is a pseudo-science. To make matters worse, it is a pseudo-science enabler. Take Psychology for example, a clear case of a pseudoscience whose only crippled leg to stand on is statistics. Remember, kids, there are 3 kinds of lies: Lies, Damned Lies, and Statistics

Unfortunately, it certainly would end up getting those mods all over my case.
