I did know that. We've had a few conversations about phatmass and some of the things on it. I cannot wait to sit down and talk with her. Also did you know she has a thing for pecan pie?
no i did not know that lol. next time i come i should bring a pecan pie!

when i came she gave me this huge envelope of stuff, and there was this book on Dominican cloistered life, which I have been trying to read because I want to understand about their spirituality and stuff, but its boring. So I think I have read, maybe, one chapter in the past several weeks. but i am really going to try to make an effort to finish it.

I am going to bring one. I need to ask her if I can make a few in their kitchen and some whipped cream to go with them.

I got the huge envelope. I want the book! I wanna read! I like reading! Also it cannot be more boring than Early Dominicans which my SD had me read. Yes, I am a nerd and yes I am totally addicted to the Dominicans. You should facebook friend me, if you have facebook. I am taking a camera with me so I will be posting pictures there.

Gee. Thanks. I'm just going to look for the women in the white habit. That's my plan and I'm sticking to it.

I know, it's just that that airport is a bear--I also used to get lost in it! And the sisters should find you very easily! (or you will be able to find them!)

But September's sort of close...and you get to see them!!!! It's so exciting when one of the VS crowd gets to visit sisters/monks/priests/brothers/nuns/religious in general!

If you don't mind me asking, how long are you staying with them? Is it a weekend retreat or longer? How do they do retreats? I know the NDs usually do weekends (at first), but I'm not sure about cloistered communities.

You contact Sr. Mary Catherine (PM me I will give you her email) and you talk to her. Her and I had a couple of really long phone calls and on the second one she invited me to come and stay. They do not do retreats like the NDs do. They do individual visits. On the first one you stay in their guest quarters. The second one you stay in the cloister. I will be there September 2-5. If all goes well then I will, hopefully, be invited back for a second visit. After the second visit then they decided if you are a fit with them. This is the first community I have been super excited about. I have been happy about others, but this is a totally different feeling. I am super excited this.

Benedictine nuns of the Annunciation Monastery.

Very old photo. I am under the impression that they no longer wear habits, or even a veil for that matter.

This is Marytown now! Great place! It was formally a monastery of the Benedictine Sisters of Perpetual Adoration of Clyde, MO - http://www.benedictinesisters.org/ - http://www.ncregiste...charistic_town/

I'm not sure who the Sisters are with white habits and veils, but the one at the organ is a Daughter of the Immaculata - http://daughtersoftheimmaculata.com/
Here's another photo of a 'blue' Carmelite working alongside a brown one! :>p They are from St Joseph's Monastery in Peru (different than the ones in the video I think because there are no blue ones in the video)

I believe it is just the lighting that is making the one nuns' habit look bluish. This Carmel in Yurimaguas is under the 1990 Constitutions (you can tell by the ones marked with three stars here), so I would think they would keep to the traditional brown.
Interesting about those Nazarene Discalced Carmelites in the blue though .. never heard of them. And they are listed there in that link, so they must be official OCD - neat :) Here's the page on them translated. They became OCD in 1727 .. interesting.
